this hotel is centrally placed in the city of Tblisi. It is full of character - converted from a large private house, over six floors with a roof terrace where you can see for miles. My room was more a suite - enormous would have slept at least six people with two almost double beds and and large convertable sofa. Some of the rooms have balconies and you can choose rooms that offer views of the local street life or at the back of the hotel rooms that over look flats set around a courtyard.
For an ex Russian country Georgia is making great efforts to improve its facilities for tourists. The food in the hotel - dinner was excellent, breakfast more limited. A large jug of Georgian wine on the table in the evening helped the food go down a treat. There is a games room with snooker in the basement. The only downside is the wooden flooring - so noisy that is anyone comes in once you are iin bed even with ear plugs you are likely to get woken up - only solution stay up.
You have to accept that things dont always work - sometimes the water stops, or the lights or the telephone but there was wireless in the hotel and I could use skype. The staff were very willing even when they didnt understand what I was saying.
Note risk factor very high - high speed transfers from the airport in taxi's without rear seat belts - Georgian driving uses all of the road! Avoid!

Room Tip: take the room up on the roof at least you wont hear people going past yours !

Arrived there in the middle of the night. Didn’t know what to expect, because hotel was booked by a colleague who didn’t give any further explanation. This looks a bit shabby and disappointing from the outside. Young staff speaks good English. They are elegant and razor-sharp friendly. This is weird. Strange architecture inside. Stairs, openings and windows like an Esher painting. A library. A big cuddle bulldog on a sofa. The room is spacious, clean. Furniture okay. Shower without a curtain. Clock that is not working. Very quiet. Sleeping well, although in a bed that is a bit too small and in sheets that are a bit weirdly decorated. Wake up. Splendid view over the city. Then couple of days busy working. Each time having similar latent feelings about the hotel. Leaving the hotel. These people are so kind and at ease and helpful. What is happening? I love this place. Read only now and here that this is a family run hotel. That explains a lot. Quite a relieve that part of the mystery is solved.

This family run guesthouse at the top of a steep uneven road doesn't look enticing from the outside. but once inside the atmosphere is warm, friendly and welcoming. This was my second visit and my room overlooked the central courtyard. my friends' room was on the top floor where there were views of the city a good place - for sitting out and sharing the house wine which is readily available in a jug from the kitchen. The meals of freshly cooked Georgian fare are varied and appetising. The pleasure we expressed at some of the dishes that were new to us resulted in us having a meal of our favourites cooked on our last evening. The staff are friendly and very willing to provide advice and directions nothing is too much trouble. Fellow guests are usually involved in interesting international projects so conversation is interesting. Roms are clean and provide the basics. A haven

Room Tip: the tip rooms are good if you can climb lots of stairs

Located centrally this old family house is now a small and characterful hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable opening on to comfortable sitting areas on each floor. Food, which is simple interesting Georgian dishes, is home cooked and home grown as is the wine. Staff are always helpful and do airport pick ups. Taxis easily available. Guests tend to be a fascinating mix of EU & NGO funded professionals mixed with actors and musicians. Always an interesting bunch. This is the antithesis of the anonymous hotel chain.

Arrived at what looked like a bit of a rough area off one of the main streets - lots of guys hanging about and wasn't too sure about the place. Fortunately this was soon dispelled as the rooms were large with great views over the city, The staff couldn't be more helpful and accommodating - nothing was ever a problem. You could sit on the roof terrace and look across the city and 2 minutes down the hill were a few bars or you could walk or take a short taxi to all other parts of the city. As for the guys hanging about on the street - after a day or so in the city you realised that they were just socialising with their neighbors and actually were very helpful if you were looking for somewhere. Georgia was a breath of fresh air - fantastic people, Tiblisi is a lovely city with good food and bars.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view - dont expect the Ritz and access to some rooms is up 4 flights of stairs
