“Clean & comfortable bed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 November 2011

Airport bus #6015 stops right opposite the hotel which is located in the business district. Hotel lobby is located on the 2nd Floor, check in is efficient & staff speak fluent English. We stayed 5N in a non-smoking family room. Both the room & bathroom is spacious and exceptionally clean. Mattress is firm & comfortable. There is nothing exciting around but we have no regret booking this hotel as Gongdeok Subway Station is accessible via the basement level which link the Subway Line 5 & 6. Taking the subway to the town & other attraction like Nami & Chuncheon is a breeze. For almost the same price, we'd rather stay in a clean & comfy hotel rather than hotel like Ibis which is located in the heart of Myeongdong. We have only 1 complaint which is the noise from the traffic which can be heard as early as 530am.

We highly recommend the restaurant at the basement serving tonkatsu & tempura. Food is delicious & reasonable priced.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the main road.

Great hotel experience. Large grocery store, restaurants/cafes, bakeries, hair salon, subway station all located conveniently in the basement level just below the hotel. Many coffee shops and places to eat nearby as well. Myeongdong and city center is just a few subway stops away. Airport bus stop just across the street. Receptionists English wasn't great, but good enough to be helpful if you needed anything. Rooms are impeccably clean, beautiful view of the city. Very modern....auto all power off switch right near bed. Everything else is also automated including the do not disturb button instead of a paper sign. Wired internet is free in rooms with more than one ethernet jack if you have multiple people in your room trying to use a laptop. Free computers available for use downstairs in business center. Bathroom is really nice with a ceiling rainshower and a tub. Room thermostat could use a little work - aircon took a long time to cool the room when turned on. Luggage storage is available if your flight is later than check out time. Super convenient, great location, and highly recommended. Would definitely stay here again.

I really enjoyed this hotel. Airport bus takes you very close, check in is efficient, rooms are decent, common areas well kept and well proportioned. Expensive possibly but cheaper than many other options in Seoul.

Most of all I enjoyed the local flavour of the location. I found plenty of choices for dinner and breakfast and got by just fine without speaking a word of Korean.

No problem with room smells and free plug in internet works just fine for me. Better than a slow wireless connection anyday. There was an odd acoustic problem in my room with noise coming along the extractor vent in the bathroom but not audible from the bedroom.

Got an adaptor plug from reception without any problem or deposit, went to the supermarket in the basement and got water and other stuff to keep me going.

All round just a very practical and decent place to stay, exceeded my expectations after reading other reviews here. Probably not that convenient for business but I was on business and got by OK.

1. Room - Hotel room is quite new, clean and comfortable, but the room is not big. And it only have free wired Internet in the room, no wireless available. It's below the standard nowadays. And the TV channel seems to be limited, it has some Korean local channel, BBC, CNN, CNBC etc. No ESPN and it seems to have only one movie channel, not too many choice for me.

2. Location & Transportation - The hotel is direct connected to the subway line #5 & 6. But most of the tourist spot is not located at line #5 or 6. That means you must need to have a interchange no matter where you plan to go. Since Seoul's subway system is an aged system, especially for line #1 - 4. When you having subway interchange between lines, you always need to walk for a long pathway, going up or down for a long staircase without escalator or lift. You may feel tired if you walk like this everyday.

3. Surrounding - In the hotel basement, there has supermarket, cafes, bakery. It's very convenience and good for tourist. You can pick different cafe everyday for breakfast. Except the stores in the basement, nothing special around the hotel, since it is a commerical district, just office building.

Base on the price and the room quaility, it's not bad for business trip. But it is really poor without wifi in the room, no matter you are a businessmen or a tourist.

If you are a tourist, I will suggested to pick a hotel direct with direct connection to subway line #2 or #4 is much better.

Spent our first night in Lotte city as other hotels at myeong dong re full on that day.
Reached there at 9 am by airport limousine bus (driver just stopped right infront of the hotel, you just need to cross a road) but too bad, only able to check in after two.

Room settings re classy and very clean, toileteries re provided, love the shower gel and shampoo (aloe vera with ylangylang) :) And awww..the bed! very comfortable to sleep on esp we were tired from the journey on first night..services re okay, Staffs re polite and speak english.

Subway(Gongdeok station) is just at the basement of the hotel. Very convenient to travel but if u prefer to shop till late night, its advisable to stay in the hotels at myeongdong.
This hotel is situated much nearer to hanriver park than the palaces, insadong.

Cant comment much bout the breakfast though as we didnt take it.

Overall its a very nice hotel but pricey.

Keep in mind that this hotel caters to business travelers and not even remotely close to Lotte in downtown Seoul.

The first room they gave us smelled so awful I was getting a headache after a few minutes. They sent up an air freshner that did not work. The second room was not as smelly (but still smelled), but was tiny... I mean tiny. They upgraded us to a double with 2 beds for extra $10/night. It was an average size hotel room... still smelled like ashtray but tolerable.

Negatives:
- no room service
- no bell men to help with luggage
- breakfast extra $20 per person (after taxes and fees) that was below par to terrible... more like a 2-3 star hotel food
- travellers checks exchange rate was much lower than other places plus they charged 6% service fee while other hotels gave higher rates with no service fee

Positives:
- clean
- friendly service

Would only stay here if I had no comprable alternatives... which was the case this time as this is high travel season in Korea and every other 4-5 star hotels were fully booked.

Room Tip: If you plan to have more than 1 person per room, definitely ask for double. singles are much too sma...
