I arrived on friday night and the owner was waiting to meet me, even though I came almost close to midnight. The place isn't big but that means it has a home feel. The living room has a great cable TV, 3 computers, comfy couch, full kitchem with filtered water. The owner makes you feel at home and the people I met here are one of the best. It is a great place to chill and relax also the beds are comfy. I loved my stay here, but the people I met here will stay with me forever.

My stay at HEY backpackers was phenomonal. Good atmosphere to meet other backpackers, good service and help. The host, Mr. Ko is a really nice guy that will help you any time of the day. The guesthouse is located in Hongdae, which is a street visited mostly by young people, with alot of small cozy shops and alot of life! But even though it is a street filled with life there is no noticable sound in the hotel

I came here for 5 nights a few weeks back, and stayed in a private room for one day and a 5 person dorm the rest of the time. The hostel owner is very kind and funny, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The bathroom is also always clean and well stocked, and there is a full kitchen available for use. There is also a spacious living room, free wifi, and use of a washing machine. The location is unbeatable! It is in the heart of hongdae, which has a great nightlife and wonderful independent art scene.

We stayed in a private room for 5 people. It was downstairs. The actual looks of the room doesn't do justice compared to the photo. The room looks decent and bigger in the photo (in their website). But reality it was super small. It feels really cramped in there. We went there during winter and the heater need to be turned on every hour as it will automatically turn off on its own. Quite ridiculous.

Plus, even if you feel terribly cold you can't adjust the temperature to go higher as the highest it can go is only 21 degrees. The room has its own kitchen, television and super slow computer for browsing. Yeah, the Internet is also damn slow. Apart from that, this guesthouse is located at the center of Hongdae area. The shortest route and probably the only route to this guesthouse is Exit 9, which is the busiest subway exit in Hongdae area. The exit is congested almost every day and every time.

I arrived an hour late, but the owner waited for me despite late at night. The place is easy to find and just a few blocks away from the Hongik University subway Exit 9. The amenities are more than what i was looking for, and its all for free to use whenever you want to. Surprisingly after roaming around the nearby streets, i find lots of great watering holes/Restaurants/Foodcarts/Stalls that sell lots of interesting stuff. All of these are just a few minutes walk from Hey Backpackers. There is a Love Museum & Trick Eye Museum on the end of the street which i find interesting. Also the Inn is equip with fast internet speed and ample computer if you need to use or browse something from the web. You may opt to stay either Hey Backpackers 1 & 2 if you like. How i wish the heater was turned on as the last 2 night of my stay it started snowing, but it might just me as i came from a tropic country. And im not used to cold weathers. hahaha

I would surely go back here whenever im in Seoul in the future.

Room Tip: I tried the shared room and i didn't encounter any problem. Maybe you should consider getting th...

If you are looking for a quiet place to stay with a kitchen, a washin machine, this place is perfect and the area is cheap with a lot of students, progressives and young people. Near a lot of shops, foods, Korean or western bars, everything is near. The owner is so funny and he has welcomed me very well, we went in a Korean restaurant, and if you are alone, he will be happy to show you and share with you a BBQ or other Korean meal.

We booked a twin room with shard bathroom. The room was ok, but there was only one bathroom with toilet for all the rooms, means about 12 people share one bathroom, so if somebody is showering you cant use the toilet. So we asked the owner, who is definitly very strange, for another room with a private bathroom. We were able to change to this other room. But we should have left the hostel right away. The new room was somewhat dirty and smelled like hell! The bedsheets weren't washed, so you could smell the persone who slept in there before. The bathroom was moldy and even smellier then the rest of the room. You felt dirtier after having a shower as before. Additionally it was really noisy during the night. There were people fighting and talking really loudly, motorcycles and other vehicles passing by the window. We didn't sleep that night and decided to change the hostel the next morning.
After we foudnd the owner we asked him to get our money back for the next few nights we already booked and paid for. But he said nodoby ever was complaining before and as we already paid he cant give us the money back. After like 30min of talking to him, he was ok to give us at least some money back. In the end we got around 50% back, and changed to another guesthouse, which was cheaper and very clean. So its possible to get a nice room for decent money in Seoul, but most definitly not in Hey Backpackers.
