Good hotels in Seoul are all expensive. The IP offers the most bang for your buck. The staff is always helpful and speak English well. The rooms are clean and very comfortable but not very big (typical of Korea and Japan). The hotel is within walking distance to the subway and Itaewon shopping district. The IPB is surrounded by great restaurants in Itaewon. Try Vatos Urban Tacos! If you are headed to the Airport, there is a shuttle that comes to the hotel every 20 minutes and costs about 15,000W. The breakfast buffet is great and has a variety of good foods to suit both asian and western tastes.

If you look around you won't find a better value.

The Imperial Palace (IP) Boutique hotel is located right in the heart of Itaewon, and is walking distance to many very nice bars and restaurants. I paid about USD $155 per night here in January 2014, and based on the experience, I think that is a very good value for this area. The rooms are very comfortable and super clean. The hotel styling is rather odd, in an over the top strangely ornate way, but I really did not care about that. The breakfast is pretty solid with lots of Western choices, and the hotel staff speak English decently. In a nutshell, this hotel is a very good value for the location. The only thing I really did not like was the super dark hallways. They have some kind of energy saving lights in the hotel hallways, but the lights just stay on super dim instead of turning on and off.

Room Tip: Get the room rate that includes breakfast. Othewise it is about $20.

A newer hotel in Itaewon. Right from check-in to check-out, no issues. Everything was very smooth and the staff were very accommodating and helpful. The rooms are clean and bright, the bathrooms are also clean. No grout or stains on tiles/ upholstery. Rooms are quiet and air temperature controls are very responsive. Very interesting lighting in the hallways.
A big plus is the area, very interesting to walk around and not too far away from the shopping area. Close to the Samsung Museum which is worth a visit.
If you are the type who wants to go out and experience the night-life, this is a great area to stay in. You won't be heading home before a late-night/ early-morning snack along one of the many street vendors which spring up around midnight.

Stayed here for 4 nights back in May. Had been sleeping on a friends floor for a week so decided to treat myself to a nice hotel. The room was a good size with a comfortable double bed, tea making facilities and a lovely bathroom. Nice deep bath too. Oh, and Western tourists will definitely get a kick out of the 'robot toilet'!
Location is good at the far end of Itaewon, 5/10 minute stroll up the high street to the metro.
2 gripes: 1) I felt it was a tad pricey 2) Was informed upon arrival that their air conditioning system was being renovated for the Summer. So alas, my room was the temperature of a Nordic sauna.

Located along a major strip in Itaewon, with lots of shops, restaurants, 5mins walk to Itaewon subway station. Fast free wifi available in the rooms. Good comfortable beds and clean rooms. OK for a couple of nights stay.

We've been to this hotel at December 2012 Christmas time. Since it was Christmas the prices were high but we were lucky to find a room here.
The hotel has superb location in Itaewon. Itaewon is one of the best places in Seoul because of the restaurant choices and the bars. Especially in the cold days of Seoul you need to stay somewhere close to restaurants and bars. I remember that it was -11 degrees ( feeling temp was -18) in day time when we stayed in Seoul so be prepared.
It has nicely decorated modern rooms with the famous toilets like in Japan. Its a few minutes far from the Itaewon subway station.
Place might looks a little pricey but it worth.
