This place came highly recommended on websites, from friends & we were craving for non spicy soup so, we had to try this out.
There were 5 of us at the restaurant and we were seated by a Chinese lady (from PRC) and were presented with the menu. The specialty are the ginseng black chicken & normal chicken with stuffed glutinous rice (priced at 30k & 20k Won respectively). We ordered the black chicken & another ginseng chicken that is cheaper (14k Won). But the lady told us that we MUST to order a minimum of 3 items & wouldn't place our orders until we ordered something else (she stood there & sulked). Finally, we ordered a roast chicken. The lady came back with 2 small bowl of rice (dried up rice that has been left for 1-2 days) YUCKS! and the usual kimchi dishes & water.

The ginseng soup arrived together with 2 miniature cups of wine which we are to pour it into the ginseng soup. Be careful not to pour too much unless u really like the combination of the wine with the soup. Anyway, we tasted it & all of us agreed that it is overrated. We weren't WOWed by the taste of the soup nor the texture of the chicken. Surprisingly, the roast chicken tasted the best.

Would I recommend to my friends or anyone who visits Korea? A definitely NO!!! We can get better ones with better service & value for $$.

Samgyetang here tastes fantastic that I had to go back on the following day. The taste of ginseng in samgyetang is more subtle than Tosokchon but yummy nonetheless. I think it's a great place to bring people who don't familiar with the taste of ginseng

Took me awhile to find this restaurant's name on Trip Advisor, perhaps the reason why there are no English reviews. Also because the staff here does not speak any English or very limited English, sorry I cannot remember, and probably non-locals are not sure what's on the menu or are scared to go in.

This place is located in Myeongdong, which is a great shopping area especially for women, see my other review of Myeongdong. You will have to scroll through my list of reviews to find it as some of my reviews of each country are not all together. Anyway, it's on the second floor once you find the address.

This is one of the best meals we had in Seoul. We both ate the Ginseng soups, one of us had white meet and other dark meat. Both were delicious. The staff was fairly nice. Note, as I remember no one there spoke English, but it seems the menu has limited English. Just point.

I would advice going here for lunch, not dinner, as if you do opt to eat the ginseng, note they give you one whole piece, you will have quite a bit of energy afterwards and it may be difficult to sleep.

The staff was polite and helpful and as I remember the price was reasonable.

If we were to go back to Seoul I am pretty sure we would come here again.

One last thing. If you have any serious health conditions, before you come to Korea you should as your doctor if it is ok to have Ginseng, normally it is ok, but there are some illnesses that perhaps you cannot have it as it stimulates your blood and chi.
