“A gem among Seoul hotels”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2012

The hotel is well hidden and inconspicuous from the outside, and quite hard to find without some help from the locals, but boy, was it a precious find.

On the very high end of the spectrum of love hotels - our room was superb, ultra comfortable, with a huge bed, a giant TV taking up half the wall, beefed up with electronic gadgets and a jacuzzi. On top of it all, there were 2 powerful PCs with large HP monitors (awesome for a date with a Starcraft player!).

Also, it was impeccably clean, which is not always the case in Asian hotels of this standard. The location is wonderful too - close to the subway station and all of the main arteries, with a great variety of atmospheric local places to eat within 100m of the hotel.

We only stayed one night before our departure, but we wished we had found it earlier. Highly recommended!

I loved my stay in this hitel. We had a huge TV, two PCs with internet, very nice bathroom with jacuzzi. It was one of the best value for money hotels I have ever stayed in. The location is also close to a main road but not right in it so not too crowded. Would highly recommend.

We booked Hotel Amare after a bad stay at another love motel up the street. The closest subway exits to Hotel Amare are Exit 1, Subway line 1, or Exit 5, subway line 5 at Jongno-3ga subway station (Lines 1, 3 ,5), each of them less than 5 min walk away. The airport limousine bus also stops very close to the hotel, less than 5 min walk as well, which was a bonus. It was a breeze getting back to the airport on our last day (1-1.5hr bus ride depending on traffic, 10,000won per pax, bus route no. 6002. Bus stop is outside McDonalds on Jongno.

We requested to see the room first, and were shown 3 different ones (701, 702 and 703) to choose from. Across the board, the service staff was very patient and helpful, though counter staff spoke little English, there seems to always be at least one staff on duty who can speak and understand English fairly well, which was a huge help.

We settled on room 702 for its cosy layout (2 PCs, next to a big screen tv, with a jacuzzi hottub facing the bed and tv, and 2 glass separated shower and toilet cubicle respectively.

The bed was a little on the hard side but acceptable. The room is smartly designed - and lights are sensor based: once you walk in through the door, lights come on automatically, when a certain area is not in used (e.g. toilet/shower), the lights go off after a while. There was no closet space, as with most love motels, but plenty of room to leave your suitcase open for things and 2 hooks and hangers behind the door.

Heated floor, quiet rooms. 2 PCs hooked up to high-speed internet. We asked if there was Wi-Fi, the service staff left and returned with a little device and set up quickly with a program. He told us to leave one specific PC on if we needed wi-fi and it worked like a charm.

My hubby and I enjoyed the jacuzzi very much while we watched movies on the big screen tv!

3 free can drinks and 2 bottles of water a day are available in the fridge free of charge.

We enjoyed our stay :)

Room Tip: Room 702 was nice :)

The good : There's lots to eat in the area, it's near the airport limo stop and subway stations. We sprang for a deluxe room as we were spending 5 nights. The amount of space was as described in the booking website minus the kitchenette.

The bad : Heating was way too hot and the aircon was place directly above the bed. In the end, we had to sleep with the windows open but that meant that we were treated to the karaoke singing from across the street.

This is a love motel pretending to be a hotel. We did not see any other tourist during our stay, just lots of couples checking in all the time. Our floor was always fully occupied come evening. Housekeeping is cursory at best since turnover is high. Trash underneath the table or sofa is likely to remain there throughout your stay.

Lights were very dim. There was no closet space for your clothes, no drawers to stow your stuff. We ended up living out of our suitcases for 5 nights. There was this high tech touchscreen by the bed that can control the lights, TV, aircon. Unfortunately it was all in Korean. There was hardly any power socket available to charge your electronics. We had to be very creative to free some of the power sockets in order to do so.

Even though we have made arrangement for a slightly later checkout at 1pm instead of the usual 12pm the day before our checkout; it was given to us grudgingly and only after we reiterated repeatedly that we had already made the arrangements before hand.

For the price, you can probably find a REAL hotel with better service and facilities.
