Service in Korea is expected to be superb. I’ve come across some of the service and hospitality in Korea so it was expected that the Ritz would be no different. I did feel however that the rooms at the Ritz were average and not to the quality and standards of the brand. My party had several rooms; both standard and upgraded suites. Both rooms were comfortable and clean but could use a bit of a upgrade. We utilized the club level benefits and did enjoy the lounge but found that the food was mostly filler foods that were less than desired. I will say though the morning breakfast buffets was amazing and full of variety. Although we paid an arm and a leg per person, it was delicious - not sure if it was worth the price but better than expected. They served American, European, as well as Asian dishes and all were good. I was also able to enjoy the spa and pool but note, this is not an western style spa. The spa is typical Asian bathhouse that houses multiple hot tubs at different temperatures as well as steam rooms. Basically, clothes are not an option. While it was relaxing and I was able to scrub my hearts desires, the facilities could also use an upgrade. I would suggest the Ritz to budget some capital to at least make cosmetic improvements to its facilities, including the rooms. The surrounding hotels are much nicer and far more modern than this hotel.
