“Great location, good service, good facilities”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

I visited this hotel for three days while on business. It's a good base for traveling elsewhere in the country, nicely situated near the central train station and Namsan Park. I got an upgraded room on the upper floors, so this review may not describe all experiences.

Good points:
Excellent and free fitness facility and pool. The pool is big enough to do laps in, and the fitness facility is well-equippet with modern machines and free weights. There is even an aerobics room to do yoga or stretching in.
Two executive lounges, one for people with kids, and one kid-free.
Several restaurants on site, and room service
Ten minute cab ride or walk from the train station, which quickly and cheaply connects you with the rest of the country and Incheon airport. There is also an airport shuttle.
Namsan Park is across the road, good for jogging or walking.
Decent sized rooms and bathrooms, well equipped. I had 220V and 110V outlets in several locations. Internet was speedy, as always in Korea, although some sites are blocked.
Ironing board in room, which is not a given in Asia.
All staff speaks good English.

Bad points:
Pillows, as always, are too soft. I didn't inquire about firmer ones.
There was a lot of loud construction down in the lobby when I was there.

Room Tip: Rooms look out eithe over the city (railway station) or the park. Pick your favorite.

I have had this problem on this recent visit, and other previous visits. I have reported it often, and it is never resolved. I am a non-smoker and request non-smoking rooms. This time, and too often at this hotel, my room fills with cigarette smoke from someone else smoking in the hotel. At night it is horrible to wake to a smelly room full of smoke. The air filtration between smoking and non-smoking rooms needs to be fixed. Yuck!

The hotel is under restoration. Many room have old furniture and in very bad condition. The carpet on the floor is in bad condition. The price, over 200 euro per night is not worth of the offered accommodation.

This classy hotel is located in the heart of downtown Seoul across the street from picturesque Namsung Tower and near the main Seoul train station. It adjoins a casino so transportation is readily available 24 hours. Shopping abounds nearby and there are lots of local eating places nearby that can be easily walked to. Be aware that prices in Seoul are relatively high, and that meals with beef (bulgogi, kalbi, etc) are very expensive.

The hotel has just completed their lobby renovation and has a bright and welcoming atmosphere. I stay at lots of Hiltons as well as 4 and 5 star hotels, but what makes this place stand way above is the staff. They are friendly, helpful, and accomodating...greeting you warmly outside the hotel when you arrive and treating you like a VIP throughout. Each and every one goes out of their way to acknowledge you....very impressive staff.

Rooms are comfortable with a sitting area and work table, and soft robes and slippers are in the closet. Each room has floor to ceiling windows that can be opened for fresh air. The rooms faving the front of the hotel has great views of Namsung Hill and Tower across the street. The backside looks towards Seoul Station.

Good restaurants. ..breakfast buffet is excellent. Again, be aware prices are relatively high especially at the specialty restaurants. Free shuttle service available to Itaewan, Seoul Station, and all the major shopping markets and tourist areas.

If you want a great location, excellent staff, and all the amenities of a first clsss hotel, you won't go erong staying here. This was my 6th stay at this hotel in the past two months and I will stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask vor a room facing tbe front of hotel...beautiful view of Namsung Tower and city

For the good stuff, thanks to the Q&A section on TripAdvisor I found out about the shuttle service from Seoul station to hotel. The staff at the hotel speak good English, especially the concierge who helped us translate locations we want to go to in Korean so that we can show it to the taxi drivers. Special thanks & mention to Mr K. O. Lee who very kindly helped us with the translations over the days, making reservation for us at Namsan Tower. The porters by the lift were also very polite and helpful when they greeted us. We took the airport shuttle from hotel to airport when we departed for KRW 16,000 and the front office kindly booked us for (no reservations needed, you can board the airport shuttle at any time stipulated). I enjoyed the bed, the space of the room & the view of Namsan Tower very much. 'Executive Health Club' aka gym & pool on level 3 are well-equipped with pool, jacuzzi, sauna, gym, changing rooms etc. Several restaurants and eateries nearby hotel.

Now the not so good. Unfortunately the shuttle from Seoul station to hotel only departs once every hour, so when I missed the bus by 15 minutes, I had to wait for 45 minutes to leave for the hotel from Seoul station. There was major renovation going on in the lobby which thankfully ended on our last day. The room for a Hilton brand, is quite dated and tired looking but clean. However room is very dim at night (my last stay at Grand Hilton Seoul years ago was the same, room was very dim too). The housekeeping was very abrupt on my second morning of my stay whereby they came into the room without knocking and I was still there. I told them to come back later and second time when they did, they knocked. Strangely swimming caps are provided at the pool & I was expected to wear it. Not sure if it is a cultural thing but I found it a little odd that wearing swimming cap is a must. Drinks at the lounge was very expensive.

If it hadn't been for the concierge, I would have only given this stay a 3 bubble rating.

I stayed here for last weekend. The hotel staff are very kind and friendly. Executive lounge is comfortable. However, it seemed a little boring for my kid, five years old. She went to the swimming pool but came back within 30 minutes. I think kids program such as the ones provided in Jeju Shilla or Jeju Lotte hotel will attract familiy guests like us. Anyhow, the hotel was comfortable.
