“Good value for money, firm 4 stars”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

I went with a friend - we came for a wedding. Our 2nd time in Seoul. Initially I considered Airbnb, but this hotel seemed like a good value when looking at the location vs price, so I booked it.

Pros. Location is amazing. It's very central, lots of cafes and restaurants around (great breakfasts at Dunkin Donuts & Starbucks and ask hotel staff for Korean bbq place recommendations), supermarket nearby (7-11), Lotte shopping centre is at the doorstep, same for the KAL airport transfer bus, and it's easy to get to many of the sightseeing locations. Hotels next door (Westin Chosun, Lotte) are 5-7x more expensive.

Wifi is free and there is free bottled water. Our room was very clean and had all basic facilities. There is an ATM in the hotel and it accepts foreign cards. Bell desk staff were mega helpful (even lent us an umbrella when it rained).

In terms of cons, hotel room was quite outdated. So if you are sensitive about peeling paint, yellow stains and chipped furniture, this is not your hotel. The radio control console from the 70s (?) was particularly amusing :) Air con is only on when hotel decides so. They do provide a fan and you can keep the window open, although you are then exposed to the street noise.

There is no English guide to the toilet :) you can play with the buttons but unless you speak Korean, you won't benefit from this value add. Despite being a tall building, there is no bar or restaurant on top, which is a pity. We went to the nearby Lotte hotel bar (33rd floor) and Top Cloud (33rd floor), just weird that President Hotel do not realise this opportunity. Wifi connectivity was at times patchy. Reception staff were not too helpful and always forwarded us to the bell desk.

Overall, I would stay here again for sure and would recommend this hotel if you are not too fussy about room design and just want clean, basic, good value, central accommodation.

I highly would love to recommend this hotel to all kind of guests especially for business travelers.

1) Location :

The location is just across the road (from Seoul City Hall).

This place is very convenient and accessible to major places in the downtown of Seoul.
(of course , there are many restaurants available near this hotel like fastfood franchises and brunch restaurants etc PLUS the Myeong-Dong Area (one of the biggest commercial district in Seoul) located about 5-8 mins walking distance from this hotel.

Many rooms can take a overlooking view over Seoul City Hall & Plaza, the other sides also can take overloking the big roads across and downtown buildings.

2) Room :

In respect with accomodation, the room size was very adequate for signle business traveler like me.
There is one clean signle bed and one appropriate-sized table for laptop, pad-writing works and side-snack placing altogether with two number of fine chairs. (I was very pleased with the table size)

The bathroom was very clean with one sink, bathtub and one toilet attached.
The closet had a good size to contain clothes enough including safety cashbox.
Mini refrigerator bar was available.

3. Service :

Very helpful and assisting staffs, the breakfast was very pleasant.

* Overall, I really loved this hotel, considering the price compared to other hotels nearby, especially in the downtown area, This hotel offers quite satisfying price and quality accomodation & Service while locating in very attractive place in the downtown of Seoul.

Highly Recommendable.

Note : I was a single guest stayed one night.

I wished i had more time to get out of the meeting hotel. City Hall is across the way, with its spectacular architecture. The underground shopping and community centres is meant to be very interesting. I do know it's a short walk from the Palace, and from the mid-city stream which is a most pleasant stroll. The hotel is also next to the KAL limousine stop from the airport. So all in all, extremely convenient location. As for what happens on the inside: the beds are very comfortable, the wifi works well, temperature controls are good, room size is adequate, there are too few electrical plugs and the electricity is turned off when the lights are swtiched off which makes charging up various devices over night a little difficult, the bathroom needs a bit of updating, wish i could have had a non-smoking room, the western breakfast is mediocre but the Japanese breakfast is stupendous, would be useful to have additional lifts for the number of people.
Other hotels in the location are more upmarket, so i suspect this is the value option.

First timer in Myeongdong and stayed for four nights. Though not inside the shopping district, the walk is just ten minutes and you can choose walking through underground shops or on the ground where the lanes are filled with small bistros offering meals for local people working in Myeongdong shops. The next door is Lotte hotel which costs three times a room a night. We are offered a room at 27 floor overviewing the plaza in front of the Japanese style colonial City Hall and the modern designed new wing. The room and bathroom is in the design of 80's but TV is new. Big bed and nice pillow. Big room too. We tried the Ondol which was a kind of experience. Overall, great room to take a rest after a long shop in Myeongdong.

Love the location of the hotel -- near subway station and shopping area which is quite ideal if you are there for shopping . room is bit outdated and the heating system is kinda too much and dry . sound proof in the room is not good enough , could hear next door talking during night ..
