“Location and Value!”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

I stayed here for 4 nights in October and this hotel was simple with an excellent location. The pillows and bed were comfortable and although the hotel was not new or renovated it had everything I needed - especially worth it since I got a very good rate. Power adapters were a bit hard to find, there should be 3 separate power points after looking around the room.

The location is superb, you can catch the N tower bus almost outside the hotel (there are also many other buses stopping there) and Chungmuro station is 2 minutes walk away. If you walk the other way, Myeongdong is 7 minutes away. Staff were friendly and helpful - and helped me organised the free shuttle to the airport limousine the night before even though it was very late.

If you are on a budget and want an excellent location, then I would recommend this hotel. If you are looking for luxury, then look elsewhere.

I booked this hotel for two nights due to its good location. I was visiting the Namsangol Hanok Village and wanted to stay near it as well as Myeongdong. Astoria Hotel is about a 7 minute walk to the hanok village and about 15 minutes to Myeongdong. The hotel also lies on a main street just steps away from Chungmuro Station which is to the right of the hotel. One of the exits has an escalator. I cannot remember which exit number has the escalator but it is not the one right by the hotel but the next one over (3 minutes from the hotel). There is a restaurant attached to the hotel, though I never ate there. Plenty of restaurants near the hotel near the Chungmuro Subway station. Both western and Korean food, as well as Paris Baguette, Subway, Chinese Restaurant for some other options. There is a big movie theater in front of one of the Subway exits. It is also near the pet stores area, which is on the same street about 15 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel itself is a bit old, but well maintained. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean, with a clean bathtub. The staff at the hotel spoke decent English and the cleaning ladies were very polite. They helped with the luggage, gave extra towels and held the doors for me. There is no wifi in the room, but you can borrow the internet cable and hook it up to your laptop for fast internet. The hotel is nothing special, but affordable, secure and relaxing after a full day of touring. There were lots of Japanese and Chinese staying there when I was there. Due to its affordable price and good location, it is a good pick for hotels in this area. Easily accessible by taxi or bus, I would recommend it and would book it again if staying on Chugmuro street.

We booked a triple room on hotelclub.com and it was a good deal. The room was spacious for 3, however we didn't manage to get a room facing the N Seoul Tower if not that would have been great. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Complimentary water bottles are provided everyday but there is only 2 per day...

Myeongdong shopping street is a 15min walk from hotel hence we could drop our shopping bags and continue to do more shopping.

Namsangol Hanok Village is 10min walk from the hotel if you would like to experience Korean Hanok culture.

Good and affortable downtown location, the room was clean and quite large (korean standard).
The service was friendly and they spoke decent english. There is a subway station close by and you can walk to Lotte department store. It will take you 10 to 15 min. We will happily come back.

Astoria is an old hotel but well maintained. Room is spacious even a coffee table exists. Bed is comfortable but double size is a bit small for two. Toilet is huge with bathtub and a heated bowl which makes using perfect.
Location is superb - few steps away from chungmuro station which i think has 2 lines passing thru it. It is better if you are using the subway as means of transportation because transfer is easy though i find the myeongdong area better because of the shopping. Anyway. Myeongdong shopping street is roughly 15mins walking...almost 2 blocks away from the hotel.
Bus to seoul tower stops almost in front of the hotel.
Staff are very corteous and accommodating. Check in and check out is a breeze and we were able to check in at 1pm. There's a free shuttle from hotel to sejong hotel where the airport limo bus will stop.

This was OK considering we got a discount on Venere.com but the hotel is nothing special. The restaurant is hardly ever open and when it is there is not much on offer. We had breakfast at the "Paris Baguette" cafe about a block away. The airport shuttle bus stops at the Sejong Hotel, about a block away and across the busy street so you need to ask for the bus that goes there - the Astoria is not on their radar. The room was small with just a small window so got a bit stuffy but it is clean though very plain and dated. It is just a short walk to the metro station so convenient for getting around and also close to the shopping district. WiFi on the lobby only but an adaptor was provided in the room so we could keep electronics charged.

To be honest, my friends and I picked this hotel because of the location but when we arrived it was not really near the train station! Well probably if you dont have big luggage and dont mind walking for a good 15mins, then that's fine. Aside from that, the rooms does not have wifi, flat iron and the power sockets were very limited too. We booked a triple sharing room which was big but the interiors were dull and very old. I'll probably stay somewhere else next time.
