I stayed for two nights in a Park King room. I had made the booking directly on the hotel’s website and selected the ‘Awaken at the Park’ package, which included complimentary breakfast and Wi-Fi internet access.
Arrival
I arrived via taxi from Seoul’s main train station after catching the Airport Express train from the airport. The entrance was certainly very discreet and low-key. The porters were OK but not exceptional in terms of friendliness. I had to go to the 24th level to be checked in and then go down the lift again to get to the room. I had a very friendly lady who helped to perform the check-in. She spoke good English, which I found out later (at the Lotte Hotel Seoul) could not necessarily be expected in all hotels in Seoul.
The Park King Room
The room impressed upon entry. I could immediately appreciate the boutique character of the hotel while walking there. The hallway had a quiet and relaxed feel to it. My room was at the end of the hallway and entering definitely gave an impression of entering one’s own private space. The soundproofing was very well done and I couldn’t hear anything from the other rooms, which helped give the sense of a private space. I also appreciated that it was non-smoking. I had requested both of these aspects while booking the room and so it was good to see the requests accommodated.

The room had expansive floor-to-ceiling windows wrapping around and these allowed ample light during the day and good views of the surrounding office buildings and wide streets. Unfortunately, the windows were not tinted and it was possible to see some details within from outside, including even in the bathroom area so it might have been necessary to use at least the day blinds in the living room area and full blinds in the bathroom but that would have defeated part of the purpose of having the large windows. In the end, I suppose the set-up would best suit those without a very large need for privacy.
The living area was quite spacious but the placement of the dining table there somewhat restricted possible free movement. I didn’t have a recliner in my room but just a standard and small sofa seater. The whole living area was designed with wooden flooring and panelling, which was good as it gave a warm character to the setup. I wasn’t too sure about the pillars found at the end of the room near the bathroom entrance. Perhaps they had a structural support purpose but from a design perspective they didn’t really...More
