I have stayed three night at the end of April at the excellent Rian hotel, located in the center of Seoul, near the newly renewed Cheonggyecheon stream and literally in front of the subway line 6.
You can easily reach for any district of this huge city from there. The hotel is new and the rooms are extremely clean, light and well equipped. I had a superior room with separate shower, bathtub and toilet. The room itself was spotless. The front desk staff are vey helpful and polite. The breakfast, at about 7 euros, is not cheap but of a good quality and served at the top floor.
I have been delighted to stay at the hotel Rian and would recommend it without any reserve.

Stayed here for a couple of days. Hotel is clean and new. Staff very helpful and kind. Speaks good english. No problem with commuication. Location of hotel convenient(3mins walk to subway) however hotel is not situated on main road got to walk through alleys. If travelling alone not advisable to go back to hotel too late as the alleys are not brightly lit. If you intend to shop and it gets too late just flag a cab and show cab driver the hotel card and ask him to call hotel for direction. By the way, from Dongdaemun cab fare around 5000KRW. As hotel is new cab drivers cannot locate location on GPS. Generally a good stay. If visiting Seoul I will definitely return to Rian.

Last-minute in Seoul can be tricky, so if you are arriving in Korea without a hotel reservation, you can expect that a decent hotel will cost you much more than you are used to. I've been lucky to find a few good boutique hotels at reasonable prices, but you will have to settle with staying in locations that are a bit off the beaten path.

Pros:
- Rooms are fantastic and well designed.
- Staffs speak English very well.
- Location is close to lots of good things
- Quiet and very clean
- Prices are reasonable, even at the last minute
- Free wifi.
- Lots of foreign language channels on the TV
- Free laptop in the room

Cons:
- Hotel is not very easy to find (not on a main street, but in an alley)
- No separate shower stall in bathroom. Entire bathroom gets wet when you shower.
- Surrounding area is a little bit strange
- Taxi drivers won't find the hotel (but bring a map and they should be helpful)
- Room is a little bit cluttered with too much unnecessary furniture.

Overall, a nice place to explore the city from and good for a layover stay when you are in a pinch and need a place to stay that is well-designed, but not super unreasonably expensive and the fact that the staffs speak English (and I also head Chinese, too) is a very big bonus for a boutique hotel in Seoul.

Note: Check-in/out is 14:00/11:00

This is a new hotel opened in Feb 2014... Room size is just fit but I wanna appreciate how amazing of their service... We don't have language barriers since they can speak in Korean, English and Mandarin... Also, I located near exit 14,15 of Jongno(Sam) ga... Just 1 mins walk from the exit... From the airport, u can take airport shuttle 6002 directly to there... Since it is too close to the shopping area (Meyong dong & Dongdaemun), it's realli suitable for anyone who loves to shop... Btw, I'm still staying there and can't wait to share the comment to everyone...

A few minutes walk to the subway, through some alleys, hotel is new and clean. There's a business room where you can get some free coffee. Location is very good, lots of cafes and restaurants nearby: Starbucks, MacD, Angel-in-us coffee, Paris Baguette.
