This old restaurant is a classic and a must visit if you want to take in all thats CAIRO. One can spend hours in there and be amazed every time. the hummus drink, the egyptian coffee, the people, the sellers, the waiters, the antiques....it is a cultural cornocopia..must experience it when in Cairo.

the original shisha place in khan elkhalili. you feel the history in every corner, the vintage mirrors, seats and pictures.
Enjoy your drinks, amazingly horrible shisha in the heart of AlHussain.

“This place is crazy!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 March 2014

This place is absolutely bananas. We were greeted by an energetic waiter and sat on the inside area. There isn't much difference between the outside and inside by the way, it's in the middle of a market and very open. A group of Egyptian girls sat down outside and had a guy sit at their table with a guitar plugged into a speaker singing songs, the locals quite enjoyed this and there were kids dancing and other tables clapping along to the songs. Brilliant.

The drinks themselves are amazing. The fruit drinks are proper fruit drinks, not concentrate nonsense. A fruit cocktail drink here is absolutely beautiful. We had a number of these. We also had mint tea which might be the staple drink of this place. On top of this we had some kind of milky coconut drink, which I can't really compare to anything i've had anywhere else. Really nice drink and quite filling.

On top of the great quality drinks, the place turns into an absolute mad house with people selling goods and services coming in and out. Off the top of my head I was offered: toy pink cars, pashminas, monkey nuts, necklaces, fake watches, shoe shining, books, bracelets, and many more things I can't remember. Some of the people are hard to get rid of - monkey nuts woman left a handful of nuts on my table for more than 15 minutes, presumably in the hope I would eat some and have to pay her. It's fun though. the most bizarre visit was from a kid who tapped me on the shoulder and started crying when I looked at him. he had a clean haircut with a mohawk which made me laugh at the absurdity of the situation, then he immediately stopped trying to cry and walked off to find another target! Madness.

Great experience, we went here quite a few times! Again the real treat is the drinks (especially the fruit drinks), we would not have returned were the drinks not fabulous! They have shisha as well but I'm not big on that stuff.

“Nice historical place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 March 2014

Al Fishawi Coffeeehouse is located at Hussein Square and Khan El-Khalili, it is a nice historical place where you can find and meet painters, writers and movie stars if you visited it at late times. You may enjoy drinking tea with mint while watching people from all over the world moving between bazaars.
