“Great gardens, good service & brilliant showers”
Reviewed 11 November 2008

We needed to stay in Heliopolis to be close to the exhibition grounds, and we were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is old, but everything works well and efficiently.
The staff were great from the bell captain to the housekeeping ...
The rooms may not be the newest style but they are Clean, comfortable and the shower just what you need after a long day in Cairo
The pools looked really tempting but we had no time to have a swim. The gardens are pretty and tranquil.
We'll stay there again.

We stayed here for one night at the end of a 14 day trip to Egypt. Our company Egypt Uncovered booked this hotel for its proximity to the airport.
The rooms are spacious and clean, with tea and coffee making facilities.
We ate at the Leonard Restaurant in the evening and I had a very good risotto. Good breakfast.
The hotel has lovely grounds and pool area with an adult only area in the pool with a swim up bar. It is amazing to think, lying in the lush grounds that we were in the metropolis of busy Cairo!
An ideal hotel at the end of a trip.

I stayed at this hotel for five nights while in Cairo for business. The service was very attentive, especially compared to Le Passage Heliopolis where I stayed on a previous visit. The room was clean and comfortable but could use an update. I believe all rooms are being renovated.

We ate at most of the restaurants and found the food to be very good and the service very friendly.

The location is very convenient to the airport but not very close to tourist attractions.

I enjoyd my stay and would be happy to stay here again

I've visited this hotel a couple of times as our client in Egypt gets special rates, and overall its certainly one of the better hotels I've stayed in.

Staff are very friendly and polite, seemingly with good language skills - I observed once recptionist switching from Arabic to English to German easily. On my latest visit I was given one of the newly renovated rooms (in the brown-walled areas at the end of the very loooong corridors another reviewer mentioned), which was pleasantly furnished, clean and well-appointed if not that huge. The hotel has several restaurants, I only tried the outside Egyptian/Oriental one, and having also eaten at other recommended 'local' (non-tourist) Egyptian restaurants in Cairo, I was pleased to see that the food was genuinley representetive of the local cuisine, something which is sadly very rare in many large hotels. During the day, the outside pool area was pleasant with palm trees, sun loungers and a swim-up bar. The '18+ only' pool was also appreciated as I could relax and have a proper swim without families and screaming kids, who had their own seperate area. Upon check-out there was a small discrepancy regarding the amount of internet time I had used (which was largely my fault), but the receptionist quickly waived the internet charges and mini-bar bill, which I thought was a nice touch.

The only (potential) downside is the location - the hotel is near to Cairo Airport, but is some distance from downtown (for a downtown hotel I would reccomend the excellent Grand Hyatt). If the traffic is bad (which in Cairo it usually is) it would probably take an hour or so to get into the city centre. Having said that, many of the sights of Cairo (Pyramids, Citadel etc) aren't right in the centre anyway, so whether the location is an issue depends on what you want to do. The exterior of the hotel is quite grey and drab-looking, and there are no decent views from any of the rooms if that sort of thing is important to you.

I was recently stranded at the very scary Cairo airport at 3am (long story), and thankfully found that this hotel had a room and was willing to send a driver to come in rescue me from the airport. All the staff, but especially Amr the concierge, were extremely helpful and friendly, and I will be eternally grateful to them for their assistance at a traumatic time.

The room was nice, the air condtioning a God-send, but perhaps a little overpriced for what it was. The pool area is an absolute treat though, with waiter service at your sun-lounger, and a separate pool for families and one exclusively for over 16s - this one has a swim-up bar!

We stayed one short night before final departure to US and were booked by travel agent. Hotel belongs to the category of luxurious but faceless modern establishment that is very good when you need quick and efficient relax-recharge but might be boring for a longer vacation when you are open for something more original and eventful. Expect bouquets of roses and orchids in the lobby, several restaurants including a “must” sushi place, Las Vegas style female singers in the lobby who are actually enjoyed by some clientele (tastes are different). Restaurant where we were directed for breakfast buffet next morning has a funny name “My kind of place”. Buffet breakfast was fresh, good and abundant. The omelet station cook was cheerful and efficient for the early morning (6 am) lines of hungry guests.
Our room happened to be at the end of the very-very long hallway that is grayish all along its way except for the area around last couples of rooms where its color suddenly changes to intimately brown (might be due to room categories?). Room was clean, comfortable and it had tea/coffee facilities. Bathroom was perfect except for the lack of shampoo but there was extra shower gel. Room was quite and I did not need earplugs for a comfortable sleep (could be due to hotel location?).
We did not see a pool (if there is any) because we came late and left early.
