we stayed for 4 nights in Hotel Novotel El Borg. The room was ok, with a great view on the Nile. The location of the hotel is great. The prices are quite high. The staff is not very friendly or helpful. The hotel staff tried to make us pay the room twice: organisation problem or rip off?
Beautiful jacuzzi in the top roof terrasse.

Comfortable well lit rooms with nice views on the Nile (see photos). Staff was not systematically friendly and my laundry was delivered late. Overall it is acceptable and convenient for business trip but the venue is quite impersonal and there must much better value for holidays. Also, not a great location for restaurants.

Stayed for 4 night break with family which unfortunately coincided with start of demonstrations. Perfect location for siteseeing and easy walking distance of museum, restaurants and shops. During demonstrations staff excelled at keeping all guests informed with what was happening and our safety was paramount. The staff of this hotel are a credit to Novotel.

The hotel is in zamalek, which is a nice location. However, it is on a tip of the island and you will need to walk a bit to reach something.
Breakfast is ok, gym and pool are small, and the rooms are nice (although could be cleaner).
Just one aditional note - keep your money safe. I stayed there for business with some colleagues and one of them had his wallet "cleaned". Nontheless, the hotel returned the stolen money.

Service was pleasant, however it took ages to check in.
We were provided with a city view room, and we said no to this. We paid extra for Nile River room, and advised check in accordingly. We were provided with our preferred (and paid) for room, however it took extra time.
Our room with a view was awesome. Photographers delight, both night and day. The noise of the city was non existent in our suite. Room was large, well decorated and for a first in Cairo, provided complimentary bottled water for the tea/coffee making facilities provided.
Hotel restaurant provided good selection of meals at a reasonable cost. The rooftop restaurant/coffee area was delightful, and also value for money.
Would not hesitate in returning to this hotel on our next visit to Cairo.
Excellent location, with many must see sites in easy walking distance. Pay a little extra for Nile River view, it is worth it.
