“This Blu is a refuge from Egypt's bustle--if that is what you are seeking”
Reviewed 26 January 2012

This modern hotel was the final stop on a two week small group tour of Egypt in early December 2011. It has many of the throwback features of its US origins--efficient front staff, air conditioning, spacious, sleek, well designed lobby and rooms. Most of the signs are in English first (American version). This was a necessary reintroduction to our departure and within a few minutes of the international airport. Once outside, you are clearly back in Egypt and an attractive suburb of Cairo. Filini, the Italian restaurant on site, had good food and Italian style coffees. Our group table shared several platters which we all tasty and well flavored with little resemblance to this former land of the pharoahs. The lobby bar is a quiet retreat but keep your cocktail orders close to the menu. My husband was taken aback by the sweet vermouth substituted for dry in his martini. Just one of the few reminders here that you are in a predominately Muslim country where few of the observant drink liquor, even if they tend bar. If you are seeking something that reminds you of the country we are visiting, consider your options. However, if you are seeking a bit of a refuge with comfortable reminders of 'at home' comforts, the Blu is an excellent choice.

Room Tip: Our 8th floor room allowed us to see a bit more of the neighborhood and the vast array of home TV sa...

Following our holiday in Cairo and on the Nile, we spent New Years Eve here before returning home the following morning. I thought it would be a bit of an anti climax following an excellent holiday, but I was wrong! The lobby had palm trees with fairy lights as well as a large Christmas tree and was contempory in style.

The bedroom was a bit dark for my liking, but otherwise immaculate. Room service was very reasonably priced and delivered quickly. They even phoned up to ensure it had been delivered and check that we were happy with everything. Tea and coffee making machines were in our room too. Don't expect many English TV Channels - BBC News was about it.

We had tickets to the New Year Gala Evening and the amount of effort put into it by all the staff was amazing. We were given large 'goodie bags' with quality hats, masks etc in. The room was decorated well for the occasion. There was a great hot and cold buffet with at least 50 desserts including superb Rum Babas. Chefs were on hand to stir fry prawns & veg in woks. Joints of meat, salmon, dips, bread etc were beautifully presented.
The music was great and it was fun to watch the locals having such a good time. They all made us feel so welcome and the balloon filled floor provided additional entertainment. Unfortunately, due to an early morning flight, we had to leave before the band and belly dancers, but were told they were excellent.

Breakfast starts early and there were lots of hot and cold choices.

If you need somewhere convenient for the Airport, this would be a great all rounder.

A busy hotel, only three kilometres from the airport, but in a quiet suburb. The rooms are what one would expect from a large chain, comfortable and functionable. Our room only seemed to be supplied for one guest, (bottled water etc.) but when we went to reception they sorted all our problems. The mini bar/fridge has an electronic type tag on it, which we preferred to leave untouched.
We ate dinner in the Mix Buffet Restaurant (self service)which was extremely good value with such a variety of food on offer that it was hard to choose. Everything was appetising and well presented. Friends ate at the Italian restaurant and were pleased with their meal.
Breakfast was served in the Buffet Restaurant, and again there was so much choice, including a chef's cooking bar for eggs.
Not a hotel to spend your holiday at, but useful for a one-night stay before flying out.

I stayed in the Radisson Blu Heliopolis because I wanted a big brand hotel off of downtown Cairo due to the recent troubles. Usually I prefer hotels with some atmosphere. I found this instance of Radisson to be very poor. I also got the feeling that they seem to take any occasion to milk you for more money.

Cons:
* Bad and expensive food. Don't eat here. The food will not make you sick, but it's overpriced and cooked wrong. Breakfast Omeletts are good. Eat out!
* Sink outlet was broken, shower turned the bathroom floor into an ocean.
* Personel is clueless to common needs. Tourist map? What restaurants are there here? Is there a pool?
* They did not know of the Gold Elite benefits of the Club Carlsson program (room upgrade). I reminded them and they promised to call my room. They never did.
* Transfers to the airport are four times the price when ordered through the hotel.
* Due to the open nature of the lobby, you will hear the lobby telephone ring from inside your room.

Pros:
* Feels safe.
* 1122 (the lobby bar) is nice and provides great snacks when you order drinks.
* Good roof top pool.
* Beds are amazing.

Really good modern hotel convenient for the business areas and airport. Staff we friendly and helpful, from being met at the airport, check in, housekeeping, restaurants, business lounge. Room was clean and comfortable, had a business class room so a bit larger. Business lounge really useful to meet contacts.

Choice of restaurants and bar areas to suit whatever you wanted. Food was good and the choice excellent for breakfast and dinner.

Sleep quality was good but woken by the ubiquitous horn tooting that is part of cairo life.

We stayed our last night in Egypt at Radisson Blu primarily because of it being so close to the airport. Our room was very comfortable and clean. We ordered room service which was quick, affordable and tasty! This is a great place to stay your last night in Cairo but not ideal to stay at throughout a sightseeing trip as it is very far from the major sites (pyramids, museum, coptic cairo, ect.)

This hotel is located only 10-15 minutes from Cairo airport. We've stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is big and the looks are luxurious. Same as the rooms. Although our bath wasn't very clean and the bathroom smelled very very bad. I was near puking sometimes. Especially in the mornings.
The staff is very kind and helpfull. They speak english very well. Food of both the italian restaurant and the hotel restaurant are good and cheap. The waiters though can be slow with getting your order.
I really recommend this hotel. Maybe not when you want to see cairo's sights. It's far located from the piramides/museum. I didn't mind sitting in a car for a while, got the chance to see a bit more of Cairo.
