“Good food & service.”
Reviewed 7 June 2013

The food is very good, as well as the service. You can order a couple of plates and share. They have a huge many with many different options. Nice location and easy to find.

“Excellent and authentic. Fantastic food in a plain setting”
Reviewed 17 April 2013

Having lived in China and Taiwan for over 7 years I have to rate this as a very real experience for authentic Chinese dining. It is all about the food and not the atmosphere with the rooms being quite bland and rather sterile, merely some tables and chairs in brightly lit rooms.
That is where the blandness stops.
The food, wow, the food takes me back to the mainland. Real flavours and textures with the right level of spices, hot and spicy if eating Szechuan style and delicate if trying more coastal dishes. A good range of main courses and starters are available with our favourites being the Tempura prawns, the Szechuan whole fish and the sizzling beef platter. Mapu tofu has been both excellent and good as well, with the time it was good the only disappointment we have had. The restaurant serves a substantial amount of expatriate Chinese and does extend to more traditional and exotic dishes including chicken feet.
It is one of the best, value priced Chinese restaurants I have eaten at anywhere outside of a Chinese country. To top it off for us in Cairo is the service of beer and BYO wine.
If in Maadi it is a must visit restaurant.

“The Sechuan Chef gives an authentic taste”
Reviewed 15 March 2013

Run by Beijingers with a Chef from Chendu, this very popular small restaurant has no problem filling its tables nightly to refuel Ma'adi expats - I take it as a very positive sign that many Chinese come. You are wise to reserve.

“Great Food”
Reviewed 30 May 2012

I have been to China Winds several times. The food is great, with enormous variety beyond what you would find n a 'normal' chinese restaurant. The decor is a bit stark and bright, and sometimes the service is a bit slow, but the food is colourful and tasty. Worth a visit.

“Authentic and tasty Chinese Food”
Reviewed 24 February 2012

I've spent years looking for decent Chinese food in Cairo. Most restaurants seem to think that if you bathe food in soy sauce it will be Chinese. China Winds is different. They have an amazing array of different dishes to suit everyone's taste. I have yet to have a bad meal, though I readily admit that I've not gone too far afield into the chicken feet and "camel trotters". The restaurant is best enjoyed with a bunch of friends eating "family style" so you can try several dishes.

The only negative about China Winds is they order in which they serve dishes. Their kitchen is clearly too small (supposedly being expanded this month), and as a result things seem to appear in almost random order, so be prepared for your appetizers to come last or for there to be 10 minutes between main dishes.

FYI- Beer is available.
