“Egypt: worth it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2013

The staff are very high quality and extremely welcoming. In particular, I developed a cold from travel and the room service waiter used his own initiative, unasked, to return with a home-made hot lemon drink with honey, which certainly saved me from developing flu.
The view is spectacular over the Nile and the island. Yes there is the sound of traffic and the boat parties, but you do not come to Cairo for 'total silence' anyway. Other reviewers who mention the breakfast are right -- it is fulsome and very good by international hotel standards. The hotel is very close to the museum of Egypt, embassies, and government offices and should be considered. Current international media images of Cairo are misleading: everywhere you go people are full of greetings and warm welcome.

Though it is closed to Sadat, this hotel is safe for tourist. The view from the hotel is fantastic though it is a little bit noisy outside. It is no need to book a nile view room since you could see both nile river and city in some rooms. ^^ It would take about 10 minutes to the egyptian museum.

The breakfast is good but there is not too much restaurants around the hotel. It will take about 10-20 minutes to go to the place around Sadat station to find something to eat. Thanks god it is safe now in Cairo in the last 4 days. ^^ It is pity that the Sadat station is closed or it would be more convenient for tourist to go to other places from Semiramis.

Nile view rooms have a fascinating magical scene, having elite amenties and furniture(renovated not much time ago) as well as so comfortable bed (king size my case). Service at the hotel is quite decent and friendly. Restaurants and Cafes are all superb offering great delicious plates. Pool is good for a quick swim or sunbathing whilst not quite relaxing as car horns in that center of Cairo area is horrible and continuosly irritating and clearly audible. Fitness center is really outstanding and clean; presenting a lot of facilities. On the other hand no cons were not clearly noticed at my short stay except for that the hotel really needs renovations for most of its spaces in and outdoors to cope with up to date style. Rates and offers are currently attractive especially at weekends for accomodations and restaurants. Cairo is currently very safe and secured morning till midnight with locals and tourists down the streets for business or pleasure all day long.

Rooms are very nice, service is good, but used to be better. One can tell it has been a while since the hotel management has had a good constructive meeting with its employees. However, staff is very friendly and are glad to hear your feedback and also act upon it.
At the health club, there is a masseuse named Ebtesam Ahmed, she is extremely good. I have had problems with my back since forever and tried out all kinds of treatments, but no one has helped as she did. Totally recommend you book your message appointment with her.

The food at all restaurants is really good, especially at The Grill, it's exquisite!!
