“Great Staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 January 2013

Stayed at The Marriot in December for 10 nights to play in The World Team Croquet Championships , The accommodation was of a very good standard . The staff in the lobby bar knew after day one , that after a long days croquet an ice cold beer was in order and i didnt even have to ask .Breakfast at Omars was of a good standard with plenty of choice , dont decry some of the offerings until you have tried them, staff very friendly. Ate a few times in the hotel , dont really recommend Roys Country Kitchen , though Egyptian nights and J W Steakhouse excellent. . Going back for 12 nights at end of April more croquet cant wait.

The Marriott in Cairo is a very good hotel for a short stay. On the banks of the Nile it has a great location. The staff are friendly and always on hand to help. The rooms are of a very good quality and clean. The hotel complex itself has several restaurants and bars if you don't want to venture out including Harry's bar which is a typical English pub down to the wooden panels. But you should get out and go downtown and try the local delicacies visiting the markets and old town. The shops in the Marriott are good for a quick gift but are a little expensive especially when compared to the local markets.

Great hotel with character and style. The staff are very friendly and service was excellent. I stayed 5 nights on the 6th floor of the Zamalek tower. The room overlooked the nile which was great. The downside is you also have the traffic noise to put up with. However, the double glazing does cut out the noise well and it did not disturb my sleep. However the room aircon was quite noisy and I had to turn it off at night, which then made the room a little warm, but this was OK for time of year.
Breakfast was just OK, lots of choice but not great.

Have tried most of the 5 stars in Cairo but the Marriott is my favourite. It's not quite the smartest or swishest but its rooms are very comfortable and all have large balconies overlooking the beautiful gardens and pool. Pros are the location in zamalek, a safe and relatively quiet area with a host of excellent restaurants, cafes and bars within walking distance; the wonderful garden cafe; comfortable beds; and its friendly and mostly professional staff. I also find them very generous with late check outs!

Only cons, and these are not major, are the old CRT TVs in many rooms, the very high prices charged in the hotel's restaurants, and the breakfast buffet, which is not the best.

For those wanting more affordable drinks and snacks than in the hotel mini bar, there is an excellent wine and beer shop Drinkies just outside the zamalek entrance on 26th July street and also a nearby petrol station with a mini supermarket.

Recommended nearby restaurants are Bodega, Aubergine and Trattoria.

Overall a good choice, which is why I keep coming back, despite the cheaper and newer alternatives.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor overlooking the Nile or gardens.

3 nights of stay was worth with all the conformarts provided.
Nile view is what i had opted for and the room was very much spacious and neat.
Breafast was something not upto to over all standard ...i Guess lot basic breakfast items were missing .
Overall its very very good hotel with great prices to offer.

Room Tip: Ask for a Nile View room.

Enjoyed this hotel. I think it used to be a palace or something. Beautiful. Nice rooms, reasonable price and especially liked the location - next to the Nile. Also not too far from the Cairo Museum of Antiquities. See our photo of the view from our room. Good food for breakfast too.

We chose this hotel during our trip to Cairo and we really liked this place. The facilities provided by the hotel were top notch and the hotel had variety of restaurants to choose from.

The hotel was also at picturesque location very close to Nile. The staff at the hotel are courteous and they made our stay memorable.

Room Tip: Choose Deluxe rooms which give option to exclusive lobby.
