We visited Cairo in April 2010 and stayed in The Hotel Ramses Hilton. It is an excellent Hotel. The location is superb. We got a Nile view room to get excellent view of the river. It is also located in Downtown, which is in the heart of the city. It was very convenient to travel anywhere from the hotel.
There service is also excellent. Breakfast is fabulous. Rooms are clean, very well furnished, aesthetically decorated well and free of outside noises.

Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, so we had to wait in the lobby for about an hour. Because smoking is allowed in the lobby, it was probably the worst hour of my life, as I could barely breathe! Even though it is pretty common for people to smoke indoors in Egypt I wish there was at least a smoking/nonsmoking designation.

Other than that, the hotel was great. The view was wonderful, although the room was a bit small. The restaurants in the hotel were reasonably priced and there was quite a variety. It was also a lot more convenient than trying to go out to eat on our own. (There was also a mall next door for shopping!) We tried the egyptian restaurant the first night and the musicians even invited us up to dance and play the zills! Continental breakfast was better than any continental breakfast I've had in the states.

Noise levels were alright in the room as long as you kept your balcony door closed. Otherwise, what a racket! I should also mention that the elevators seemed to be somewhat unreliable and thus a bit scary to ride in.

Word of warning: Do not try to get to the museum (or anywhere) on foot from the hotel. Although the distances are short, the traffic is crazy and the cars will not stop for you to cross. Attempting to cross the street from the Ramses Hilton was probably one of the more frightening things I've done in my life.

Stayed here with family for a week. Staff were extremely professional and always more than happy to help. Nice lobby, good facilities (bank, travel agent, pool, gym, sauna, business centre, 5 restaurants, bars). Decent sized rooms, all very clean and nicely equipped. Located nicely to see the sights of Cairo, and the hotel organises really good tours of the main sights of Cairo. Only downsides are the rather busy main road outside the hotel, and the fact that the meals are pretty pricey! Overall really good. Would be happy to return here if came back to Cairo.
