Booked Conrad through the company as we were scheduled to attend a conference. We picked Conrad as it is perceived as the higher end of the Hilton chain but it was far from it. Incredibly SMALL lobby. Pool is too small and crowded, coffee shop in teh lobby is no better than a 3 star. The fitness centre is equipped with enough stuff but rather small. Having been to other hotels during this stay including Sofitel, Grand Hyatt and Marriott I would say try them instead. Even the Hilton Ramses has more life to it than the Conrad. Speacial thanks to the concierge Mr Amir though.

We spent 3 days in Cairo at the Conrad commencing 27th January. We had booked an executive room with access to the Executive Lounge which provides continental breakfast and sandwiches, tea, coffee and soft drinks free all day plus 2 hours of free alcoholic drinks each evening.
Getting from the airport by the Cairo Airport Shuttle Bus was very easy and we had the bus to ourselves for 80 Egyptian pounds.
The check in at the Conrad could take place at reception or at the executive lounge. As the reception was not busy we checked in there and were quickly in our room. The room was quite a reasonable size with comfortable beds, settee, chair, desk and TV (although not many English programs). There was a view of the Nile and the Pool. The bathroom was spacious with large shower and soaking bath.
The location of the hotel was OK and although you could walk to the Museum you really need to take a taxi for about 20 Egyptian pounds (make sure you have change as the taxi driver will claim not to have any). The Museum is very interesting although the price of entry to the Mummy room felt like poor value at an additional 100 Egyptian pounds compared to 60 Egyptian pounds for admission to the whole Museum. Crossing the road by the Museum is a nightmare and not only from the traffic. We had a number of locals who wanted to show us the shortcut via the underpass which would turn out to be a souvenir shop and in the opposite direction to the one you wanted. The traffic pollution is very noticeable and I was concerned at one stage about being out of doors in the smog. However on our second day it was much better and we spent a couple of hours around the pool which was very nice after a morning at the Pyramids.
The waiters in the restaurant and executive lounge and the room boy were excellent as was breakfast in the restaurant and the snacks and drinks in the Executive Lounge. There were separate sections for smokers in the restaurant and executive lounge so you could get smog indoors and out if that is your preference.
The fixed price hotel car round trip to the Pyramids was very expensive so I asked them to call a taxi. The concierge and doorman tried hard to promote the hotel car telling us that there would be no way to get a taxi back etc. but I stuck to my guns and the hotel car was offered at 120 Egyptian pounds for a one way trip. We had a great time at the Pyramids after getting rid of the aggressive self styled official guide – this was no easy task and he needed a very firm talking to. We had no problem finding a return metered taxi who charged us 40 Egyptian pounds including tip.
We had flown with BMI which was excellent as was their new lounge at Heathrow. The premium economy seats which we had on the return journey are very spacious however the economy seats for our outward journey were quite adequate for the 5 hour flight.

I stayed here for 3 nights with my sister. We were out exploring Cairo all day so just needed a clean, comfortable place to eat and sleep. This fitted the bill well. We had a decent sized room with a view of the Nile.
Staff were friendly and helpful. There is a lovely bar/restaurant by the pool that was a good place to eat in the evening. It was also suprisingly cheap! My sister is a vegetarian and the other hotel restaurants unfortunately didn't cater for this.
Bottled water is very expensive from the mini bar. We bought it from the street vendor who is a few minutes walk away from the hotel (take a right when you exit the hotel).
We hired tour guides to take us around Cairo and so didn't find the location a problem.

We had an inexplicable experience in a hotel of this category:
on arrival we found our bed sheets were the color of old papyrus
and dirty with blood stains. We complained and they put new clean
white sheets on place, but bad first impression remain.
Hotel has minor ramshackle details all around: one of the lights
of nightstands was out of order, the room door bolt was broken,
the balcony door lock could not close, ...
There are some works in progress at the hotel and in the neighborhood,
so expect some noise if you are in one of the lower floors, say below 7th.
And forget about Nile views, we got direct view over roofs full of garbage,
and had the luck of being woken by the rooster crow every morning.
Other than that, the hotel has some very good points:
the buffet breakfast is more than excellent with plenty of choice,
the superb swimming pool is open 7h to sunset,
and the spa with sauna, hamam, and gym is open 24h and free for all guests.

Stayed at the Conrad Cairo for 3 nights to kick off a week of siteseeing around Egypt. Hotel service is wonderful. Travelled with boyfriend and family - got three rooms on executive floors and had access to executive lounge. There are four restaurants - we ate at two...Jayda the Lebanese restaurant and the breakfast buffet. Both were extremely reasonable for a 5 star hotel. There is also a nightclub / lounge type area but it was not open during our stay. It looked pretty nice though. Also spent a few hours by the pool...

Our rooms were very roomy and great beds / pillows. I think every room has a view of the Nile. They are quite plush and the bathrooms were a good size- seperate tub and shower.

Only negative- wifi / internet was pretty pricey. If I recall correctly it was between 35-40 US dollars per day. There were two computers in the executive lounge that were free for 30 minutes if you had access to it but there was no free wifi.

I'd definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to others. I heard that the Grand Hyatt and Four Seasons would be the other comparable hotels in the area. Also, we were on a private tour so I cant make any suggestions about parking / transportation but a word of advice- if you do not read or speak any arabic, you probably want to travel around Cairo with a tour or guide. The streets are quite chaotic.

Beautiful lobby, great location, clean rooms and nice views of the Nile. Crossing the street you have nice access to the walkway along the Nile, a popular place for locals to stroll and enjoy the breezes.

Downsides of the hotel that make this a 4 and not 5 star hotel:
Room decor is not up to Conrad standards as its dated
Shower and tub are separate; the shower area is very small
Water pressure in shower is excellent – bad part is the door does not seal properly and water spillage into bathroom floor is unavoidable
Room TV is small old style
Disappointing service. When I asked for a local taxi I was told to walk down the ramp and out to the street with my luggage. I complained to management and a taxi was then called to the hotel front entrance. Asking the bellman for a place to purchase postcards I was told they had none. I asked for a gift shop or news stand within the old and again was told they had none. Same for ATM. To my surprise I found all of these on the basement level

This hotel has everything you would expect from a large chain like Hilton.
The location overlooking the Nile is convenient although getting anywhere in Cairo is always a battle against the horrendous traffic.

The service is excellent and rooms are spacious with large bathroom.

Would not hesitate staying here again.
