“Excellent in every aspect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 December 2009

I travelled to Cairo in mid November 2009 with a small group of travel agents. We stayed three nights at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza and I was allocated a Nile view room. First impressions were WOW with the most amazing views from my balcony overlooking the Nile. The room was immaculate, very large with all the bits like tv etc you'd associate with a 5 star property. The bathroom was sparklingly clean, beautiful toiletries, large shower and separate bath. The pillows were soft as was the mattress, fresh fruit (not sure if this was just because we were travel agents or if every guest gets fruit on arrival), two bottles of water (water quite safe enough for teeth cleaning but not recommended for drinking anywhere in Egypt). The reception and concierge staff were very helpful. The Egyptian buffet dinner was out of this world (USD55) and worth every cent, there was so much choice I wish I'd had a larger capacity for food! The breakfast buffet was equally amazing with a vast choice of food for every palate. The location of the hotel is fine but you need to take a taxi wherever you go. Cairo is very busy at all times of the day or night.

We spent three nights here on our two and a half week honeymoon in Egypt and it really lived up to our expectations. The location on the Corniche is pretty close to downtown Cairo and it's possible to walk to the Egyptian museum and several other tourist sights. In addition, the metro stop at Sadat is roughly a ten minute walk.

The service from check in to check out was unrivalled and there were always numerous staff on hand to assist with every need a guest could have be it organising a taxi or opening the business centre out of hours to allow newlyweds to look at wedding snaps online!

The room itself was lovely and the marble bathroom a fabulous touch. We were on the 8th floor but the lift was so fast it made no difference! The food and drink in this hotel was the best we had in Egypt and breakfast was a great start to a day out sightseeing. There are several choices for dining and the bar overlooking the Nile is a great spot for a relaxing evening drink or cocktail.

The spa at this hotel was one of the highlights of our stay with great indoor and outdoor pools and separate ladies and gents spa areas each with whirlpool, steam room, sauna and massage available. The complimentary iced teas, cucumber water and cold facecloths went down a treat!

All in all this is a fabulous hotel with fabulous service and we would definitely stay here again.

We booked this hotel for our businiss . Simply put, the hotel delivers what it promises. It met our expectations, for this special weekend. The room was extremely comfortable, high-tech and clean. The staff was efficient and greeted us by name each time. They also surprised us with an anniversary desert in our room, upon returning from shopping. Breakfast at Neo was delicious, and Craft Bar was top notch.
thanks for all the staff in Four Seasons Hotel.

With over 300 rooms, there’s some truth to the complaints most commonly leveled against this hotel for being “impersonal,” “soulless,” and “lacking in local color/atmosphere.” But I found those complaints to be far outweighed by the typical pleasures of staying at a well-run FS property. The hotel interiors were consistently fresh and polished, not showing signs of age or wear and tear (the hotel’s been open since late 2004, according to their Website). No surprises in the room for those who have stayed at other FS city properties—rectangular in layout, spacious bathrooms, comfortable beds and linens. Very nice, although lacking in design or features that would contradict critics who say that you could just as well be in Dallas as Cairo.
The outdoor pool area is a significant disappointment, looking far more dated than the rest of the property. Given that the area is situated on the east side of the high rise, it’s completely in the shade for the afternoon, and is somewhat cramped and awkward in layout. The spa interior, though, was excellent, with relaxation rooms containing large daybeds situated in front of full-wall views out over the Nile, separate wet areas for men and women (sauna, Jacuzzi, cold plunge pool, steam room in each). Treatment rooms also have full wall views out over the Nile, so I’d recommend a treatment near sunset that doesn’t involve having your head down on massage table—perhaps reflexology or a pedicure—so that you can gaze out over the river and the competing calls to prayer during your treatment. Most of the therapists were from Asian FS resorts. Each of us received a treatment (my traveling companions, in particular, are spa aficionados), and had universally positive feedback about them.
Food was underwhelming on site . . . numerous restaurants, but the ones we tried were somewhat expensive and just average in quality. The breakfast buffet is large and fine, if a bit boring after several days.
Superb concierge service. My friend forgot her pool flip-flops, and when the FS shop didn’t have any, one of the concierge staff went out and bought a pair for her once stores opened later at night post fast (we were there during Ramadan). We arranged full-day tours through the concierge. They have a list of typical itineraries that combine a variety of sites, and when none of them covered quite the array we wanted, they had no problem redesigning the itinerary to include the elements we wanted. (Perhaps more detail that you want, but rather than the pre-fab itinerary to Giza, Memphis, and Sakkara, we wanted to see all the great pyramids in one circuit– going from Giza to Dahshur to Sakkara, substituting Dahshur for Memphis, which I’d consistently read was less impressive than other sites.) The guide, driver, and vehicle were just as you’d expect from the Four Seasons, providing us with very good excursions.
All-in-all, a very nice stay, providing a comfortable and elegant escape from the frustrations and discomfort of Cairo.

If you are traveling to Cairo there is no other choice but to stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza it is simply the best hotel in Egypt. The rooms are magnificent as is the decor and ambiance of the entire hotel. The private mall within the hotel is as fine as the best shopping in cities like Las Vegas or New York. The restaurants are also fantastic as are the lounges. Feel safe secure and at home here.

We stayed at FS Cairo at Nile Plaza for two nights in September. Great location, great service as always as a FS.

Pros;
Room - Very spacious with a big bathroom. We stayed at a Premier Nile View room on the 17th floor without a terrace, but we thought a room with a terrace would have been much greater to enjoy the breeze from the Nile. Window was openable and had a very narrow space to step out just a little, but a bit scary to stay there for long.

The Bar - Very inviting atmosphere with excellent service. In the afternoon we enjoyed the Nile's view with coffee and snack there. We visited the bar again for cocktails; live piano performance at night. Other restaurants Spice and Aqua were very good but not very special in taste, nor sophisticated in atmosphere as a 5 star.

Spa - Just fantastic with its excellent facility and very high-skilled therapists from Bali, at least in our case. My therapist's name was Dewi from Bali, she's highly recommended. In the changing area, there was a dedicated waiting lounge with day-beds and sofas with herbal/ginger tea. Really nice place to unwind before the treatment time along with the stunning view of the Nile. Make sure to arrive early to enjoy the facility. Sauna, steam, jacuzzi and gym were also available in the spa area, complimentary for all the hotel guests.

Cons;
The decor of room - modern, simple, but nothing distinctive nor WOW other than its spaciousness. (again, as a FS in a big city)

Breakfast buffet - tasty, with hot and cold meal, but the selection and the atmosphere were both under par I have to say (as a FS, sorry).

Internet - not for free and very expensive.

Pool - We're pool people so definitely wanted to hang out at sun loungers even in Cairo. But sadly, not as gorgeous or relaxing as we had expected from the pictures on the FS website (take a look at my pictures). Cabanas on the upper floor, as seen in the FS pictures, were not found during our stay and the upper floor was closed. Due to its sunken or walled design, no view was available from the outdoor pool other than the sky and FS building or the poolside cafe; not amazing to gaze at for long. Indoor pool was just average and no one was there.

When it comes to FS hotels' pool in the city, our standard is pretty high since we're a frequent visitor of FS Hong Kong. The pool there is super-stylish with the stunning view of Victoria Harbor. Simply amazing. So my comment about the pool might be a bit biased.

All in all, nice stay. Best in Cairo. However, not special after other FS hotels such as in NYC, Paris, Milan, or Hong Kong and Tokyo. But yes of course, this is Africa !

We stayed at the four seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza for three nights from the 18th of September. Our room was on the 21st floor and was a superior type that had the most amazing views of the citadel. The room itself was very spacious with a beautiful bathroom. Overall this is a fabulous hotel that I highly recommend and I am being picky to highlight the following.
- The bedskirt and the footstool of the loungechair in the room were decidedly grubby. I found this to be suprising as housekeeping seemed so fantastic.
- The pool area is great but service is slow....There is a separate pool for doing laps and a childrens pool so everyone has a bit of space!
- The foyer area is uninspiring in comparision to like properties. (thats really being picky!!) People have commented on the flower arrangements. I thought they were pretty ordinary but again thats pesonal taste and really has no reflection on the hotels ability to do its job!!
- No free wi fi. I think given the price of the rooms, free wi fi should be standard in this hotel. You can get free wifi across the road at the Hard Rock Cafe. (awful food though).
- Conceirge were not always so helpful. I asked that a car be booked for the journey to airport. We used Cairo Airport Shuttle and were plased with the service. Conceirge would not book this for us. The girl behind the desk sweetly suggested that we use the hotels transportation. (this service is at least 100 USD and in my mind not worth the expense) I'm not so sure that the outcome was entirely unexpected but it was slightly irritating none the less....
We took one of the hotel tours to Giza and although expensive it was worth every penny. A car and very good driver we supplied along with a very nice and polite and knowledgeable guide. It was a highlight of our stay there.We were travelling with our two year old son and the hotel was really quite well eqipped to deal with yopund children. They had a decent childrens menu and colouring books and pencils available at every turn. Yes there is only so much colouring a child can do but it helped and its better than any other hotel we have stayed in. I would happily go back in a flash!!!!!!!
