I was on a business trip some 2 years back and luckily got a day off so I decided to visit the very famous Museum, at the outset let me mention it is very beautiful, if you want to actually check out the history of Egyptian civilization this is the place to be, entry is aroung 10 USD, THey have preserved the remains of the 'Mummies' here and you need to pay an extra 10 USD . Its worth going too.. However the highlight of this evening was something that followed as soon as i exited the Museum. I was looking strugglig to crosss the road, then a well dressed jolly Egyptian man late in his 50's saw me struggling he came to my rescue and held my hand and helped me cross the road. I was Delighted! and thanked him when he told me that there were more BMW's in Egypt compared to Germany, ( i didnt know that for sure) post this he shared some more info on the muesuem and egypt and invited me to his office (it was actually a shop) I still dont believe i ended up buing artefacts worth 100 USD from his shop.. It taught me something about Egypt and Egytians - Its not just a land about Mummies, they are brilliant salesmen as well!
All said and done do visit the place if you are in Egypt

I think that visiting the Egyptian Antiquities Museum is one of the things that anyone should do it at least once in his life. It is the history of several years of civilization of the Pharaohs in ancient Egypt. This part of human history with all its details is back live inside the Egyptian Antiquities Museum. This an amazing unprecedented experience. To watch this in its true place of Egypt is a life experience with lot of meanings.

Words can not express the value and the history inside this museum it is not comparable to any other around the globe, advisable to start with the chamber of Tut Ankh Amon ,on the second level, then the mummies room, then visit slowly the wrest of the museum, you should not expect to finish the museum in just one visit,it contains to many things to see
P.S ; Do NOT use a guide from those who offer their services at the gate , they over charge for their service, and just keen to take you to papyrus galleries and perfumes shops where you'll be overcharged too,as the guides gets over 50% commission of what you pay in these shops
