“An architectural gem in Cairo!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2013

This is one of Cairo's most beautiful religious sites. It is SO old (almost 1400 years old, we were told), SO beautiful, and SO well looked after.
Of course, the architecture is JUST breath-taking! I mean, the whole thing was built on the ruins of two towers from an old fortress. The interior of the church is just as beautiful as its exterior, adorned with amazing ornaments, frescoes, pillars, and relics.
The best part was that a church custodian volunteered to be our guide, taking us through everything during our entire visit. And, it was all for free!
Also, there is a gift shop just at the entrance, if you want to pick up some souvenirs or religious statues and scriptures.

“A must see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 October 2013

If you like to visit real old places that are still inhabited and smell the past aroma, You need to go to Hanging church and its surroundings churches and monuments. Old Coptic Christians were praying there and you will feel the spirit as well. I suggest to go early in the morning and take the walk to pass by all old buildings

A blessed place for Christians amid the Islamic population...a must see for everyone. Not easy to find but close to the metro station for those independent travellers
