This is one of Cairo's most beautiful religious sites. It is SO old (almost 1400 years old, we were told), SO beautiful, and SO well looked after.
Of course, the architecture is JUST breath-taking! I mean, the whole thing was built on the ruins of two towers from an old fortress. The interior of the church is just as beautiful as its exterior, adorned with amazing ornaments, frescoes, pillars, and relics.
The best part was that a church custodian volunteered to be our guide, taking us through everything during our entire visit. And, it was all for free!
Also, there is a gift shop just at the entrance, if you want to pick up some souvenirs or religious statues and scriptures.
