Not trip to Cairo is complete without going to Khan el Khalili Market. You will need someone to guide you through the market or you may get lost the first time through! With so little tourism in Cairo, expect that everyone will want you to buy from them. If you don't like to barter, this is not the place for you! If you are looking for any type of souvenir to remember your trip to Cairo, you will find it here.

It is one of the most must see on tourists list...very old place (souk) with many of old mosques. All the old monuments , traditional Egyptian dresses and souvenirs are every where around you.
Sank in oriental atmospher and bargaining like you live in the old history of trading.
The perfect place for hand made silver , gold and precious stone.
If you visited Cairo , do not miss.

Went there by taxi, all alone at 10pm and was pleasantly surprised by the enchanting atmosphere (as mentioned by Shaymaa_m), cleanliness, general friendliness and was charmed by how helpful people were. Felt safe and enjoyed the views, which reminded me of the stories of the 1001 Arabian Nights. Bargaining is part of the game and of course you have to consider carefully what you commit to. Relax, don't be in a rush to buy - haggling is a way of being sociable. Retain your good humour. Earlier on, our guide told us if you're not interested in buying, you should firmly say "no" once only. If you repeat the "no", the sellers see this as an invitation to try harder. I tried this and it worked.
Definitely recommend a visit to this area.

I love khan al-khalili and usually go there with my friends and family. the place and the near by neighborhoods are full of oriental style cafe's like zeinab khaoun, el fishawy and more. These cafe's are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is enchanting. Khan Al-Kalili is also a great place to shop for Egyptian style galabyas and accessories, but don't forget to haggle. Yes one more thing , you can get a nice Henna tattoo there by one of the ladies who pass by the cafes.
