We were in Ciaro from June 25th -29th.
Stayed in Novotel El -Borg, a good hotel, take the room near the RiverNile side-Good staff, neat rooms (new),eventhough no free WIFI, you can use the two computer in the looby for internet use.
We visited,Coptic Cairo- by METRO, from the nearby hotel station"OPERA HOUSE" and got down MARGERGIS,, Coptic Cairo is just outside this station . A good place to visit
Then we visited GIZZA pyramid, again take METRO, and got down GIZZA RAIL (NOT GIZZA SUBURBUS), from there took a taxi and paid 10 EGP.Get down at gate at MEENA OBROI hotel, and get into pyraids from that enterance (Avoid enterance from SPINX gate, and you take exit from there). You have to take tickets to see pyramid also another ticket to see inside the pyramid. Better to take inside entrance fee for the small pyramid, which is less price and no much rush. Once you are in this area( every where people will surround you with camel drive, photo etc....., be very careful). We did not see the light and sound show -according to our friends it is not value for money!
Then we visited Citadel,Grabage city, and the nearby church there -another good experience
Then we hired a boat and made a trip through Nile round the island- an excellent experience
Finally visited Egyptian museum
Helpful tips:
We made all our tour ourself, but we hired guide in front of Citadal, Museum.I would suggest from my experience, try to get a reliable tour compny with good guide and car or as a group with tour,it may costlier but it can avoid all the problems created by the people and taxi. For example when we went to the Giza, litterally people come and stopped the car -300 meters away from Gizza, and compelling to get down and use their service!!! But some how our taxi driver managed to escape. Also we could see the tours buses travel inside the Gizza complex, it will be really helpful.
Most of the shops are really cheating, very careful.Avoid all the shops, and factory outlets from Gizza, their price is 100 times expensive, avoid resturants where lots of groups tour comes
