“See the hidden statue of the pharaoh of the step pyramid”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

You can't go inside the step pyramid, but right at the north-east corner of its base is a Serdab containing a life-size reproduction of the statue of the pharaoh Djoser. Look for a leaning cube, and peep through the small hole. The original statue holds a place of honour in the Cairo museum as it's thought to be the oldest life-size statue of Egyptian antiquity.

“Amazing.”
Reviewed 28 June 2014 via mobile

I only hope the government can repair this before it really falls apart. I've waited a lifetime to visit and it was well worth the wait. We visited at a time when tourists were not keen to travel to Cairo but we found the people Devine the place very safe and no queues which was even better. A must see for sure in Cairo.

“Saqqarah pyramid”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

Away from mainstream tourist circuits and attendant naggers, Saqqarah retains its original Egyptologist qualities, thanks to the dedication of one exceptional man, Jean-Philippe Lauer, who spent so many years searching and living on the site

“For history buffs.”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

Unless you have excellent history knowledge, like any historical monument, you will enjoy it best with a quality guide who really knows their stuff to bring the experience alive. We had both so really enjoyed the visit and much better managed than a few other sites in this part of Cairo!

“Wow...”
Reviewed 18 April 2014 via mobile

This is amazing place where I saw the first pyramid in the world and the ancient tombs where I saw the amazing carvings with back to thousands of years ago, since I am working in archeology so I really appreciated this place and I am sure that there are thousands of treasures still hidden under the sand of sakkara.
