This open air museum houses two large Ramses statues and the alabaster sphinx.

There are many other bits of ruins and sculptures. There is a fee for entrance and there are several vendors inside the museum that will push all the same junk you have seen since you arrived at the airport 100 times over again.

The museum will take about 45 minutes maximum. There are bathroom facilities and places for drinks and eating around the museum.

If you're in the area, by all means visit this museum. It's not very large, and it's mostly outside, but it's neat. There are lots of statues outside, but the best one is inside. It's a massive statue of Ramses II. He's laying down, and you can go up to an observation deck so you can get a good look at him. It's really neat, because you can see levels of detail that wouldn't be possible to see if he were standing. You can even see where the carver carved in a very subtle beard strap.

It was worth seeing the 10 metre statue of Pharaoh Rameses II (which is laying down horizontal in a custom made and air-conditioned museum built around it). There are many smaller statues around teh site and a lot of artifacts that have been discovered in the area.

It is really worth a 30-60 minute stop, especially if visiting Saqquara, just 10 to 15 minutes away by car.
