“Timing matters”

Reviewed 19 December 2013

When visiting it for the purpose of sight seeing, I recommend doing it late at night like I did. Very little traffic, vendors arent trying to sell you anything, and the view is amazing, you can actually see the Nile with all the boats decorated with lights, as well as some points for the city. I went there as soon as I arrived, as my plane arrived at night & I returned several other nights, parked on the side and just took some time to enjoy the view and have a lovely conversation. Some people were there trying to get some nice pics (like couples jumping together in the air and so on). I traveled during winter, and for those times I do advise carrying a jacket unless you enjoy being cold (I come from a cold weather & trust me you do need a jacket). Also during the day, and of course rush hours, this is just kinda impossible to do, so dont forget your timing.

Why would anyone want to visit this? I travel over this bridge daily, it is just a concrete structure JAMMED FULL of cars and with very little pavement. Not to mention recent violent clashes that have occurred here. Yes the Nile is beautiful but view it from a Felucca or the Sofitel in Zamalek. If you MUST see a bridge then Qasr Al Nil is much nicer.

Enjoy this bridge in early morning or late night, you can across Cairo easily without any traffic jam, also it is good to watch Nile River, sunrise and sunset too. Wedding couples can take shoots for memories as well.

its always crowded from 8 AM till around midnight and in both directions which extends from Nasr city to Giza. The optimal driving time is early in the morning and after midnight.

Cairo's ongoing engineering project for quite a number of decades. It is continuously being renovated and expanded so that it can support the ever growing Cairo traffic. It will take you from one side of the city to another right above the most crowded parts of the city making it easy to see quite a number of distinct parts of Cairo.
