Owner description: Every day when the sun sets, the bustling city of Cairo, the famous pyramids on the Giza plateau south of Cairo are absorbed in the darkness of the night, however, the great light and sound show bring them to life again. Thousands of years have passed since the Pharaohs walked on this Earth, but with your imagination and our show, we bring the history alive to you; every show provides attendees with a learning experience about ancient Egypt as of its significant beginning, the pyramids

As we were in Cairo on business this was organised and billed as one of the highlights. Due to traffic delays we arrived after the start of the programme but had no problems buying tickets on the door as only a third of the seats were taken.

We took centre seats but could still hear loud music coming from adjoining bars etc which rather spoiled the surreal setting. The atmospheric colouring on the pyramids and moving speaker sound worked well but the bagpipe band playiing tunes from Aida as we left summed up a disappointing evening. Bring mozzie spray.

Unless tacky is your thing, I would recommend saving your money.

The only thing that you may want to consider is that the pyramids are beautifully lit at night so if you're willing to pay the price of admission to see/enjoy that alone, then go for it.

Otherwise, the sound & light show itself is poorly executed with green laser images, unintentionally funny narration, projected images cut off, and depending on where you are sitting, you may not even see all of the show.

The worst part when I went was that it was on a Friday night and we could hear a rave going on with loud dance music nearby which was very distracting - both because you couldn't pay attention to the show and because the rave seemed way more interesting in comparison to the yawn-worthy show.

One of the best Sound and Light Shows I've seen. Narrated by Omar Shariff. Excellent, excellent. A "must-see". At least three evenings it is shown in English first. ~~Note: bring a warm wrap! It gets cold and breezy when the sun goes down.

Although a bit overly dramatic, it was an interesting show, especially when the laser comparison was made between the size of the pyramid and some other more modern edifices. Make sure you dress warmly. We were cold in our winter coats, hats and gloves. After this sound and light show we decided not to see any others on our recent trip to Egypt. Once was enough.

Don't believe your tour guide when they tell you this is a "must see". This may have impressed people in the days before laser light shows, but you will see a more impressive Sound and Light show at any rock concert. Most people will find this basic show disappointing, especially considering the cost.

The lighting effects consist of coloured floodlights illuminating the pyramids. The commentary is quite good, if a little overblown in places, but the only accompaniment - apart from the pretty colour of the pyramids - is a slide show projected on to a stone wall. At intervals, the Sphinx "speaks" - and that is the one impressive event in the show, because the features projected on to the Sphinx's face (when they are lined up properly, which is not always) create an effective illusion.

These three elements - floodlighting on the pyramids, the slide show, and the "animated" Sphinx - comprise the whole show. There is nothing else: no fireworks, no laser effects, no live actors. At the show I attended, there was an (excruciating) bagpipe band who played a few numbers to open the show - for a moment I thought they were extras from Monty Python - but that was it.

The show I saw was made even less impressive by the fact that it started before the sun went down, so for the first 15 minutes or so, I could hardly see any of the images or lighting effects. I suspect they have to start early because they run two or three shows a night in different languages, but in that case, people going to the early show should get a discount.

A complete waste of money.
