This is one very luxurious hotel. When we first got there I was to shy to touch anything, that's how luxurious it is. Swimming pool on the roof with view of the Nile river,, just perfect. If I had a balcony it would be even better. If you visit order room service, you will be stund.

This can't be a 5 star hotel! We paid the price for a triple room and it was a small single room with one king size bed and as we got back to the reservation officer he said there's no availability and i cancelled the booking without any effort from him to find us another option! To sum it up staff are snob unprofessional and not friendly!

It started from the time of check-in, when I was told that breakfast was not included even though my booking didn't say that. Then it took then 1 full hours to get the bags to our room. Each time we ordered food, it took an hour or more for the food to get delivered. We kept being disturbed despite the privacy tag outside the door.

To top it off, the waiter conveniently did not bother to bring back change (paid in cash) for the bill. To this I finally complained to the manager Mustapha (the only person in the hotel who seemed to be taking their work seriously and actulally looks after customers), who promptly investigated the matter and gave us a complimentary upgrade. Being a Fairmont President Club member, I had asked for a complimentary upgrade before I had reached the hotel but was refused citing 98% occupancy, and yet one room magically appeared for us when the service was horrendous... shocking! But the service stayed just as bad.

At a place like the Fairmont, you expect far far better service. For the price, it is definitely not recommended at all!

Im really disappointed from this hotel.what just happened with me is unacceptable by all means.
- i charged twice for one room.
- Check In took more than 3 hours (After a long trip from Germany with my family with 2 years old kid)
- I recieved a call from your stuff at 3am to pay the room rate once more which was paid before by authorized 3rd party fromyour side
- Not proffesional stuff
- Did not tell the truth

This is a nice hotel -- it's about what you'd expect in the way of furnishings and appointments at a five star hotel. The staff was all very friendly. Pool area was a little run-down looking and very over-crowded. Also watch out if you're there on the weekend as the pool area will be inevitably overtaken by a set up for an elaborate wedding in the afternoon. The hotel has a nice selection of restaurants as well. We went to both the Saigon restaurant (where the food was good and the staff was friendly) and the outdoor Moroccan-style restaurant which had a very nice ambiance. My gripe, though, is with service. We happened to order ice cream for room service one night and it arrived (after three calls) one hour later almost totally melted. We called and complained and they agreed to comp it, so we weren't that bugged about it in the end. We have an infant and they brought up a portable crib with a couple of diapers and baby wipes and powder which was a nice touch (and we weren't charged extra for it). Also, go a great deal on the room booking through a tour company so as far as value is concerned, it was amazing.

This hotel is luxurious, we were so lucky that we got a good deal to stay here. We had some problem with noise from one of the outside venues they had parties there 2 nights in a row, the second night we slept in a different room. the best are the comfiest beds I have ever slept in! the food is delicious, particularly Bab El Nil and Saigon. Breakfast is wide and wondering selection. If I return to Cairo, this is where I would stay.
