Allegedly a five star hotel but clearly a problem with management. The bellboy who took us to our room was more interested in selling unofficial tours than explaining the room facilities. The room patio doors which opened on to the pool area could not be locked and the curtains were falling off. The TV was not tuned in and it took three requests to get this rectified. There are plenty of men in suits standing around, basically doing sod all. The bar had bottled beer the first evening but had run out by the second. The Le Chateux restaurant barely catered for vegetarians. Most of the salad dishes for some bizzarre rason have meat sprinkled in them. Excellent pizzas though can be had from the cafe. The hotel has a large downstairs area where the cafe/bar/shops are located. Unfortunately because there is no restriction on smoking this area becomes very unpleasant by early evening. Overall staying at the Pyramisa was a dissappointing experience

We stayed here whilst on a tour in Egypt. The hotel has it all, great restaurants each selling different food, it has shops and a chemist and an ATM which is guarded. We found the hotel reception and staff friendly. When my husband need a Doctor in the middle of the night for a kidney stone, they were great and arranged it for him, took a little while but he was treated and felt a lot better the next morning. They also arranged for his medication as we were setting off that day. We were very thankful. Rooms are clean views over the area. Nice and central to get out and about.

I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel all the staff are very freindly and helpfull, the room is very nice and the most wonderful thing was that we booked a double standard room on the internet through a travel agency (we are 2 adults and 2 kids) and when we arrived at the hotel the gave us a suite without any extra charges :-) it was really amazing.

According to Roland, the overall cleanliness of Hotel Pyramisa in Cairo was satisfactory. The transportation situation to and from the hotel was quite good. The personnel´s foreign language competence and general competence were good. The quality of the service was above average. Both the quality and taste of the food were really good. The restaurant's cleanliness level Is excellent. The room's furnishings in Hotel Pyramisa were more than adequate.

Our tour started at this hotel. 5 guests developed very bad diarrhoea within 24-36 hours. The lobby looks quite impressive and the staff were overwhelmingly helpful but with an ever keen eye to relieving you of some money at every opportunity. Rooms are adequate but show many signs of wear and tear. Pyramisa also appear to specialise in hard beds, grey grubby bedlinen and towels.
The food appears to present a varied selection, but as seems to have become the norm., the 'international' buffets are pretty poor, tasteless and repetitive. The bread at breakfast was very good but I was less impressed with the endless jugs of semi- hot water, nescafe sachets and curdled milk. Milk jugs are not washed, merely re-filled with 'fresh milk' and smell foul.
We were warned, too late for our group, that you eat no salads that have dressings and that you should only eat plain tomatoes and cucumber. if you don't like meat then basically, you've had it! I opted for the bread and hummous, the resultant quite severe stomach pains and upset were to continue all through the holiday.
It is Egypt and standards of hygiene are very poor by Western standards. Whether Pyramisa are better or worse than other hotels I do not know, perhaps stomach upsets are part of the package, but it was enough to ruin a few days of my holiday. Bonus was that I lost half a stone quicker than I have ever done before!
Bars and cafes are mega expensive, tax and service charges are added. Buy your bottled water outside the hotel and you will save a lot of money. If you happen to catch someone singing an Egyptian rendering of 'The Green, Green Grass of Home' whilst drinking a Nescafe cappucino, you will also pay an entertainment tax.
