“A truly Five Star experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2010

The Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at The First Residence (not to be confused with The Four Seasons Nile Plaza) is a truly Five Star experience from check in to check out and literally everything in between.
We arrived here on June 13th , for week, to be greeted by a warm welcome and unashamed luxury. The rooms were positively sumptuous (mine looked at the Pyramids, my daughter’s, the Nile). L’Occitane toilet products (that says it all) throughout the bathroom, shower and bidet. Slippers, bathrobes all there. The white fluffy bath towels were nearly too heavy to carry. In the Reception area, lobby and the long cool corridors, there seemed to be more marble and statues than in Italy. The Seasons restaurant (where we had breakfast every morning), was a feast, not only on the eyes. The Thai restaurant nearby and within the hotel, was also superb. The magnificent pool, with Pergolas’ and a Lebanese restaurant (Aura) adjacent was a sheer pleasure after very hot (45c) days of sightseeing.
We were told that this hotel is ranked Number 9 in the world and frankly I have absolutely no doubt that it is. For the entire week there was nothing wrong anywhere ! From the hotel limos to room service. Yes, it is expensive, but by day three, I threw caution to the winds and simply revelled in all the luxury and what a pleasure it was.

Difficult to be in the 'right place' in Cairo but this hotel is well placed for catching taxis into Cairo proper and for taxis to the pyramids, and the doormen will help in this endeavour. The hotel runs smoothly with extrememly helpful and attentive staff and a great laundry service. Pool good for a swim, breakfast everything it should be, concierge deserves a special mention for prompt organisation of requests at short notice. The shopping mall useful, and ignorable, the entertainment ditto. My room at the front gave a view, smog allowing, of the pyramids and, at closer quarters, of the peahens in the zoo. Traffic noise intruded somewhat. Rooms at the back overlook the Nile (again there is a road below). There are also 'inner' rooms some of which may look on the pool. The tea room is pleasant, the 'teas' good. Dinner in the Thai restaurant was a little disappointing on the one occasion I was there.

From the minute we arrived the Four Seasons certainly lived up to its high standards.
Service was excellent with staff aiming to please at all times. The bed room was lovely with lots of extra touches. Highly recommend.

My wife and I travel extensively - this is the best hotel we have ever stayed over the last 30 years. Old world charm yet thoroughly clean and very well maintained. Decor is very tasteful The standard rooms are spacious. Restaurant staff exceptional, Poolside Restaurant very laid-back yet good food and service. Laundry service very fast.
Masseurs are world class - re deep tissue massages. The only down side is the price of imported quality wines, particularly champagne - NV Laurent Perrier was US$600 per bottle (poolside), Dom Perignon at about US$1100.
Hotel is well situated - not as good as the Oberoi which is vitual next door to the Pyramids and Sphynx

We were given a very warm welcome at the hotel which is in the Giza borough of Cairo. We were upgraded to a Nile view room which was spacious, standard Four Seasons quality and the bed was extremely comfortable. My husband and I were greeted with a papyrus gift which was generous. We tried the room service which was excellent in terms of quality, price and choice. We also used the hotel guided car tour. We had a BMW with a driver and egyptologist. The guided tour was informative, professional and considerate. I am pregnant and the driver was happy to drive us between the sites at the pyramids and the boat museum. There was perfectly chilled bottled water constantly topped up which was very welcome in the 36 degree heat. The restaurant recommendations given by the concierge were excellent however if you like to get dressed up and fine dining it is almost impossible to find such a place outside the luxury hotels in Cairo.
The swimming pool was lovely and the pool attendants were attentive and considerate. The poolside cafe/bar was excellent and reasonably priced. The spa was small-ish but more than adequate for a city hotel. I was not able to take advantage of the spa due to being pregnant and they did not provide maternity treatments. My husband spoke highly of it nonetheless.
I would certainly recommend this hotel as the best in Cairo!

Stayed here for 3 nights after a week cruising on the Nile. It really is a beautiful hotel, and an oasis of calm after walking around Cairo and a busy couple of days sightseeing.

As we were on our honeymoon, we were upgraded to a large room overlooking the pyramids. I was worried the traffic noise may have been a problem, but we slept soundly in the lovely comfortable bed with soft fluffy pillows.

The staff provided us with free cakes and chocolates, put rose petals and a papyrus on our bed, and left bath salts, rose petals and candles in our bathroom.

The service was excellent throughout, from the restaurants to the bar staff and room attendants. The hotel is spotless, the breakfast buffet is superb, and there's even a small but elegant shopping mall at the rear of the hotel.

If you get the chance, do stay here. It isn't cheap, but it is well worth the expense to experience true luxury.

We had a deluxe Nile view room and were delighted with it. There was no traffic noise at all in the Nile view room, which is important to us, and the room was huge. (We also looked at rooms at the other Four Seasons. The Nile view rooms there are on a busy main road and you could really hear the traffic.)

The service at the 1st Residence was amazing and the food at the Lebanese restaurent in the evening was so outstanding we ate there three times. Order only Mezzes to start with and main courses later as I doubt you wil still be hungry.

There is a business centre is open 24/7 in which there is no charge for using the computers.

We have stayed at many Four Seasons and this was amongst the very best.
