Beautiful trip out on a small boat and walk around the Island, though we did not appreciate the direct selling of goods on the boat ride back which left you feeling you had to buy.

I got extreme peace and serenity in this island. Beautiful temple it has with beautiful arts done on the pillars and mesmerizing history make you a part of that mysterious era. The boat ride was very enjoyable too. Its a great sight for clicking as well.

This particular temple is accessible only by boat. In normal times all the boats would be active but right now only 5-10% are being used. This means fewer tourists on site but it is obviously difficult for the locals. Everything we have seen and done in Egypt is totally safe so don't let that concern stop you from visiting. This temple has a beautiful river setting and interesting reliefs. Much of the colour is gone but the remnants allow your imagination to wander back to the days of its original splendour. Nice coffee ship too.

Going over in the boat to the temple impressive - crew selling necklaces etc on board. Temple amazing - you wonder how they can do it

This temple is no match for all the history and astonishing beauties you will bump into during your trip across Egypt. It is not the oldest (it dates back to the graeco-roman period) and is not the most beautiful. Somehow, however, it really hit me and easily bacame one of my favoured! It must be the harmony of the pillars and of the hypostile hall, the great location with water surrounding it all, the fact that it is the very last place in Egypt where hieroglyphics was officially used (check the inscriptions on Adriano's door) and the great work to replace it on a different island to preserve it from floodings!
Beware of the boat ride; it is not included in the entrance fee and it is quite a hassle to negotiate a price with the boat men. 50 Egyptian pounds should suffice.

Thank Marco S
