“Comfortable hotel with friendly staff.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2011

We had quite a large room, which had a balcony overlooking the football pitch and children's park. We were part of a tour group and couldn't control the fact that we were staying on a Thursday night - the end of the working week and were a little worried at the level of noise from the children's park, but to be honest we were so tired and the air conditioning did block out a lot of the extra noise that we had a fantastic sleep. The pool is rather small but it is great on the roof getting to look over Luxor and see the locals going about their everyday business. The location of the street is fantastic, there are tea shops, sandwich shops, an Indian restaurant and THE BEST Italian restaurant just a few doors away. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the walk into the city wasn't too onerous, again it was nice just being able to walk and see the city. A good place to stay if you don't mind a little noise, with comfortable rooms.

Room Tip: We stayed in 401 - I think 01s are bigger.

I have visited Egypt many times on business and leisure and Luxor once before. This is my first stay in this hotel. I chose it because we needed a comfortable place to sleep - the days would be spent out and we would eat out.
From arrival we found the staff friendly and helpful. Yes their English may not be perfect, but then this is Egypt and it is not an internation 4/5 star hotel. I never had a problem in getting what I needed.
Swimming pool is small, but fine to cool down in. The massage service is not brilliant and I would not recommend staying here for it.
Breakfasts are adequate with great service - if you want the full selection at breakfast, then I suggest staying in a higher priced hotel.
Rooms very clean with excellent towel origami.
My room overlooked a childrens play park and a football pitch. Yes this can create noise, but I loved watching the local life happening in front of me. I had no problems sleeping, but a light sleeper would find this difficult.
Beds comfortable, TV - not used. Inclusion of a fridge is very nice - shops down the road for drinks and refreshments.
Its a stroll into Luxor, but you can get a taxi for a couple of UK pounds providing you tell them that is what you are going to pay. At the end of the night, a horse and carriage home is a great way to travel.
Look, my view is, if you want all the services then there are plenty of reasonable priced resort hotels. If you want a comfortable room and friendly customer services - I recomend this hotel.

It has taken me several weeks to calm down and write with a clear head after the horrendous stay we as a tour group experienced when we stayed here.
The hotel is located approximately 25 mins walk away from the centre of Luxor. It does look fairly inviting from the exterior and foyer, however the rest of the hotel is a complete let down. The reception manager is at best incompetent, his level of English is barely comprehendable and he is unable to give clear answers to any question posed by guests or our guide in Arabic. The rooms are small (we had twin share with barely room to place our two smallish bags) the airconditioner works however is so loud we couldnt hold a conversation let alone sleep with it on. The shower has little water pressure and approx 2 mins worth of hot water. There is a fridge which wasnt turned on initially and when we attempted to use it, it failed to chill at all - no major issue i guess, as the hotel forbids you bringing in drinks or food and are quite vocal about it.
True housekeeping does make interesting characters - but they will use anything they can get their hands on to be created - if you dont mind your personal lingerie being featured in a display or housekeeping going through your bag to get creative then i guess there is no problem? Perhaps not.
The hotel offers a "health and beauty spa" with options for massage, facials etc. After a hectic tour this was much neeeded so a few of us decided to use this facility. The problem is, there is no private facility for a massage, the hotel calls the masseuse, he sets up his table in the open on the balcony of the rooftop pool in clear view of the surrounding neighbourhood and other guests and staff of the hotel, and expects you to happily have a whole body massage in this environment. As a female i found this completely irrational and offensive as the staff frequently come up to this space (which anyone can walk into) and engage the masseuse in conversation or simply stand there for a look. When one is only in their underwear this is completely offensive and intrusive.
The hotel manager believes this is not unacceptable behaviour, so be warned if you choose to engage in this "extra curricular activity" you will be on display for all to have a peek at.
Internet access is a rort, it is 10 egyptian pounds for an hour (no less than an hour) and it is only accessible in the foyer. They dont work on a login/logout system, so if you only want a quick peek at your email (and trip advisor!) be prepared to pay. There is no wifi in the hotel and they dont make concessions.
I can only finish by saying i am bitterly disappointed in my tour company for continuing to support this hotel with their ongoing patronage and acceptance of the behaviour of the staff.

in truth this woman : want take all the services free

she claimed the staff stand there for a look this not right , in this time only the (housekeeping) can move to roof to bring towels the other staff can't moving , the evening shifts : consists of one (house man) one (receptionist) one
(security man) and one or two waiters, all this worker can't leave the work place,
she asked to be the massage in her room and this not allowed according to Egyptian law because that room is closed and we don't know what will happen to Inside this room between the masseuse (man) and she (woman) ,
We believed the problem in the cold weather ,becouse that ,we presented this service for free to her ,although she took half hour in massage free. and took one hour in internet free also as a way of apologizing to her becouse the cooler weather.
she also tried to used the laundry service (free) what can we do ?!!!!!!!!!

I‘ve been to Royal House Hotel during an organised trip through Egypt. The hotel had been the best one during this trip. It was completely clean and the interior had not seen generations of guests as in most of the other hotels. Double beds with a good mattress. The outside looks quite fancy, while the inside is average. My room was in the back of the building and very quiet, but had only a window to a “inner court” with the width of the window-size. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice roof garden with pool. The restaurant in the basement offers a small, average prized menu. The meal was really not bad, but seemed to be a bit too much a compromise between Egyptian food and international taste. Continental breakfast with a no-go: a bag instant coffee and hot water.
A good hotel for those looking for a convenient place to sleep for a reasonable price, not for those looking for a fancy location. Eat there if you prefer international cooking, don’t do it if you prefer local tastes.

The domestic staff must be well treated here - they have enough time to create lovely shapes with the towels they place on the beds: a crocodile with a toilet roll caught between its' teeth; a fish; a puppet with folded hands on lap, wearing a skirt! with a toilet roll as its head ... very inventive, very cheerful. The rooms were large and clean, the bathroom also was clean. However, we had only enough hot water for one shower, which we didn't know about till too late! The second day there we made sure we had 2 hot but very short showers. Staff were friendly and helpful.

We stayed here as part of an Intrepid tour. The room was small and had a television and a fridge. It was very average. It was a fair walk or a short taxi ride from the centre of town.

We were a tour of 17 people that stayed one night. The rooms were ready when we arrived and the staff very helpful. The A/C in my room worked so well I woke up needing a blanket. The room was clean and spacious. Compared to "5 star" Hilton I would give this hotel a 9. Plan on staying here again.
