“The best hotel during my trip in Egypt!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2010

I highly recommend this hotel to everyone! The location of the hotel is excellent! It is very closed to the train station and the souvenir market! I have been to several so-called three stars hotel in Egypt, but none of them is as good as this one. It should perhaps deserve a higher grade! The price is very good as well! There are different prices for different views! Those rooms that face the Luxor Temple and the river cost a bit more! I chose the cheapest one, and the room does not face the main road. I believe that it is the right choice, as I do not need to hear the noise of the traffic at all!

Just be careful! If the persons at the reception desk promise you anything extra, you better ask them to write it down on the receipt as a confirmation! A person at the front desk promises me something when I booked the room, but later he said that he forgot! He only did what he initially promised to me after some negotiations.

But the service was fine overall. The breakfast was good! In particular, the view from the restaurant is magnificent!

Positives:
Stayed for 4 days. Got a good deal on a room with no view for 14 Pounds Sterling after haggling. Very clean. Hard working and friendly staff. It is a 3 Star hotel but looked more like a 4 Star hotel. Beautiful view from the restaurant balcony.

Negatives:
Very hard to fault...... If I had to pick something then it would be the hot water is not on all the time and we had a blackout for a few hours.

Conclusion:
This is the hotel to stay at. Shops and the market is a step away. Beggars love to hang around this hotel as they think people who stay there are most definitely rich.

Susanna was incredible value for money. The rooms are clean and well appointed, though a touch on the smaller side. The location is magnificent, as the hotel is right next to the Luxor temple with temple, valley of kings and Nile views from the balcony and the rooftop restaurant.

Sussana is very much a no frills budget hotel without any five star amenities, however this is reflected in the price. It was worth every penny of the US$50 a night that we paid and i would highly recommend it to other travellers.

The staff at Susanna were some of the nicest I've encountered in Egypt and really, in a lot of my travels. They went out of their way to make sure our group of 15 friends was happy and enjoying our stay. They even let us use the rooftop deck (with pool) at night for a private party and served as bartenders, without any additional cost.

The hotel's location is great. Right by the temple, near the water, and close to an indoor market.

We stayed at this hotel as a tour group for two nights.

I found the rooms to be a bit smaller than the others we were given in other locations on the tour, but the rooms were very clean and the hotel was in a great location,

The Luxor markets were directly behind the hotel and there was a small internet cafe in the alley way. The Luxor temple was a 10 min walk away and there were banks where you could exchange money beside the hotel as well.

Due to the great location that was always buzzing, it could get pretty loud at night if your room is close to the street.

I found the beds to be a bit hard and they have set the shower up in the bathroom in a way so that it would leak all over the floor when you were having a shower. That was pretty annoying.

The staff were pleasant and the resturant upstairs was nice ( we tried the pigeon!) with a WONDERFUL view of Luxor. It was so pretty and great for taking photos. They had a small swimming pool that we didn't end up using but it had a great view as well. Well worth checking out!

All in all we had an okay experience here. Enjoy Luxor!

We moved here from the super friendly, but kind of dirty Nefertiti Hotel around the corner. We bargained for a $25 rate as long as we ate one meal at the restaurant. At checkout, it turned out that we had to eat one meal per day at their restaurant, so the second night we got charged $35. Still a good value, but annoying.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. There was satellite TV, which wasn't a selling point for us, but was quite nice. The bathrooms were in pretty good shape, and were spacious. There is a rooftop bar and tiny pool, and a restaurant on the 6th floor. Both have AMAZING views of Luxor. You can see right into Luxor Temple and have a great view of the West Bank. This alone made it worth the price

Our obligatory meal was horrible, but I think that was because they only offered us a fixed menu, so we didn't get to choose what we wanted. It was way too much food and not that great. I think the rest of the diners got better options.

This hotel was in an amazing location with great rooms and great views. The main downside was the front desk staff (the waitstaff were great). This hotel has none of the Egyptian hospitality we came to know and love. This was the only hotel where they were reluctant to let us leave our bags after checkout, and when they agreed, they charged us 6 pounds. Not a lot, but pretty much unheard of. And, it isn't like they locked our bags up - they just left them in the lobby.

They really gave us a hard time for not eating two meals in their restaurant. It only cost us $10, but it was a really unpleasant experience. Every other innkeeper we had in Egypt was overly kind and accommodating. You will get the same services at Susanna, but you will have to pay extra, and you can't expect it to be offered willingly.

Basically, this felt like a Western hotel, not an Egyptian hotel. It was a good value, great view, good rooms, but no Egyptian hospitality. If this doesn't bother you, I say book it now! Even it does bother you, I would still recommend it, just be prepared. You will find plenty of Egyptian hospitality in the shopkeepers down the street, who are very friendly.
