Comfortable hotel in good location with good/free wifi service and decent free breakfest. The only drawback is that for the 3 or so interactions I had with the front desk, they were not particularly pleasant. One such interaction was when I complained about the bike I rented, which was of poor quality (and triple the rate from any vendor in Luxor). The front desk stared at me blankly - i.e. too bad. So, avoid interaction (don't rent a bike from them) and go to your room - you will like it.

We moved to the Susanna Hotel for two nights in November 2010 after finding our first choice unacceptable. The rooms there were pleasant, spacious, and clean. The view from the 5th floor dining room toward the Luxor Temple and the Nile was spectacular, but breakfast that brought me up there was entirely missable.

This was a pleasant hotel, but some services were spotty. We had to negotiate to get wi-fi supplied cost-free, and then the service failed more often than it functioned. When it was working, the service was as slow as a dial-up connection, even if no one else was using the bandwidth.

The front desk made arrangements for our trip to the Valley of the Kings, which was rendered more complicated because Egypt's First Lady came to Luxor for a visit, and roads were closed to make way for her motorcade. The tour guides made rapid adjustments, and our plans were only delayed for a few minutes.

I would recommend this hotel, with only a few reservations.

Our room was supposed to have 2 beds. There was a weird 'third' bed in between our two beds which was actually a lounge chair cushion? Weird if you ask me. The AC was so strong and there was no way to lower it so I froze all night. Otherwise, the room was clean, the bathroom was typical, but a little outdated (cracks and such). For a few nights, this is a great location and easy to get around. The views are pretty nice. There was no internet. The hotel claimed all of Luxor didn't have internet?

We booked into the Susanna just for a couple of hours after our Nile cruise to wait for a late flight to Sharm. We were a group of 5 and they only had two rooms for us which wasn't a problem. They squeezed an extra bed into one of the double rooms but seeing as it was only for a couple of hours we didnt mind. We went up to the rooftop pool for a swim in a pool that was ok at best. Lunch at the pool was dry and tasteless. One of our party was bitten by something in the room (not sure what bit her just saw the evidence of the bites) and when we asked for the third towel for the triple room which should have been there in the first place and which we tried to fetch ourselves we couldn't get the person who brought it up one floor to leave our room. The final insult was that one of the people in the group was falsely accused of taking a towel then when he offered up his luggage to be searched they quickly backed off..Anyway the towels were so hard and small i couldn't imagine anyone would want one

We arrived at Luxor train station with no booking, walked closed to the Temple, and found this very nice hotel. They showed us 3 rooms, and we chose the one at the back (25 usd), the front one had a very nice view, but it was more noisy (30 usd).
On the top floor there is a restaurant where food is served. View is stunning. Breakfast is nothing special, but we do not eat so much in the early morning and so it was ok, but I think that maybe a German or Brit could find it a little bit "poor".
In any case, the rooms and bathrooms (with bathtub and clean curtain) are nice, and they looked as they had been recently restored (the electricity wires looked very well fixed).

We asked for a room with a queen bed , where told they only have a double , oh well that will have to do .
Upon entering the room i instantly felt claustrophobic , it was so small , no room for luggage to be placed anywhere, so hubby went and had a look at the single bed room ... yes , much roomier , so we contacted the front desk and asked if we could swap rooms , which they where happy to accommodate us with .
The rooms are very old and in need of some updated furniture , i know its good to go back in time , but i think it has been there since it opened !
There are markets running directly behind the hotel , which are good for shopping and a laugh , it is close to heaps of restaurants and that view ...wow , watching the workers restore the pathway leading from Luxor temple to Karnak temple , made this place ," the place to stay ! "
breakfast was minimal and not very nice , lucky for me i'm not a breakfast person, but the view from the restaurant was gorgeous .
We didn't get up to the rooftop to have a look , the city has so much to look at in itself .

thanks susanna for a great stay , hopefully the furniture will be updated soon !

I highly recommend this hotel to everyone! The location of the hotel is excellent! It is very closed to the train station and the souvenir market! I have been to several so-called three stars hotel in Egypt, but none of them is as good as this one. It should perhaps deserve a higher grade! The price is very good as well! There are different prices for different views! Those rooms that face the Luxor Temple and the river cost a bit more! I chose the cheapest one, and the room does not face the main road. I believe that it is the right choice, as I do not need to hear the noise of the traffic at all!

Just be careful! If the persons at the reception desk promise you anything extra, you better ask them to write it down on the receipt as a confirmation! A person at the front desk promises me something when I booked the room, but later he said that he forgot! He only did what he initially promised to me after some negotiations.

But the service was fine overall. The breakfast was good! In particular, the view from the restaurant is magnificent!
