After the wonderful time we had in 2011 in Desert Paradise Lodge (DPL), we have decided to repeat!
This time Christmas and New Year found us there again, together with a family friend.
The aim was the same: We did not want to be at home in the holiday season, but wanted to go somewhere there is warmer and more sunny than in Hungary, and we did not want any Christmas gala dinner and/or New Year’s eve party and so. Nice surprise for us, in DPL no supplement to pay for Christmas and/or New Year days.
This time we spent 11 nights there.
If you have read my comment from 2011, you know a lot! Please, scroll back, I don’t want to repeat myself.
I must add, that compared to last year, very nice changes were made: new paintings on the walls, more Horus eyes to protect us; new chair pillows and the food was even better than last year!
If one goes there in winter, take in consideration, we are in the desert, so temperature difference can be big between day and night!
December we had some chilly nights, but no problem, we got an electric heater, so no freezing nights for us.
This year we had more relax, did not go for excursion every day.
The car + driver (Hamada) of the DPL was still at our service, with guide.
Last year we could not make Abydos, this time we managed – a great tour, a fantastic temple; Mohamed is a great guide; still! :) We have made a trip to Esna temple + El Moalla tombs.
Compared to our last visit in the Valley of the Kings (2003) we could see absolutely new tombs this time.
Hatsepsut temple is also something that no matter how many times you visit, you still find something new.
Being a “returning guest” is a very nice, comfortable and a very privileged situation: we were more friends than customers and we felt like returning home!
I promised and promise here, at this place too, that I will and do recommend this place to all, who wish to have individual ‘treatment’, wish to stay in a cozy atmosphere and want to avoid mass-tourism!
There is absolutely no reason to stay away from Egypt, Luxor is free from all kind of protest and demonstrations. Not even a laud sneezing took place when we were there… So, off to Egypt! :)
