This is quite an easy restaurant to find, it's on the west bank, and well worth the trip. Take the national ferry (LE1) and turn left as you get off, follow the dockside for about 175 yards, past the camel park and go up the staircase of the first building on your right. Don't be put off by the dingy stairs, it opens out onto a balcony restaurant with a fantastic view across to Luxor Temple.
There is a menu of sorts, but Mahmoud, the proprietor will suggest to you what is best that day. Twice we had grilled fish (freshly caught in the Nile that day), with salad, chips, rice and a selection of dips and breads, and it was the most wonderful fish we have tasted in our lives! This was at LE22 each, amazing value.
The second time we visted a group of German backpackers came in, Mahmoud offered them mixed kebabs, rice, chips, salad, dips and bread for LE20 each, they thought it was too expensive and left - their loss!
The decor is a bit tacky, and the furnishings rather basic, but the view more than makes up for this, and Mahmoud is so friendly and helpful. No alcohol, but he'll go and buy some for you!
Don't miss this place, it's fantastic food and value!
