“My first visit to Africa's new premises”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

My first visit to Africa restaurant new premises aside The Nile Valley Hotel.

I have been to the previous Africa restaurant and thought I should visit their new premises aside the Nile Valley Hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. It is quite similar to their original restaurant where the food is as good as it has always been and the staff helpful and friendly. However, the view to the Nile is most certainly welcoming.

They looked after me well. I had many dishes all for a fixed price of 50LE, which included the following. Fried Aubergene (Egg Plant), Mixed salad, Tahini, Bread, Baked Chicken, Rice, Baked Potatoes, Vegetables and a sweet to finish. All was well cooked and served. You need to arrive here with a good appetite for this all in one meal, as the portions are quite substantial.

I recommend Africa Restaurant with its nice atmosphere and view of the Nile.

“True traditional food at its very best.”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

Visiting Africa Restaurant at its new site about 50 yards down the same road is always a treasured experience. First, the trip across the Nile to the West Bank is an adventure in itself as every strata of Egyptian Society is on board. The short walk from the landing stage to the restaurant is now through a park, and less dusty than the old road.
The Restaurant remembers its founder- MR ALI who sadly passed away last year, as his name is still listed on the restaurant sign. Everyone who met him and there must be countless hundreds, will always remember his tales of excavations for tombs and of course his wicked sense of humour.
The food is as good as ever, and the family have really taken over the traditions which Mr Ali found so dear. The new premises are a little bit bigger but with the same cloth covered roof. I go there a least once when visiting Luxor as I like to recall the wonderful times we both had with Mr. Ali, who I am sure is watching from a great height and having a good old chuckle.

“No, THIS is the best in Luxor!”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

You will sit on cushions in the evening cool, on a roof garden with a view over the River Nile and the lights of Luxor, watching the variety of boats go by. There's a moderately set menu (though they will vary on request) with Egyptian grilled favourites. You get great starters with salads etc thrown in, and also tempura-fried aubergine - by far the best dish in a fortnight of eating out. You get a pudding. You can order wine and beer. It will, of course, cost you the princely sum of 10pence (1EP) per person to cross the Nile on the public ferry to get there - or like us you can hire your own private motorboat for £2 (20EP) there AND back (!!!) (agree price before you start) - in other words 50p each for our party of four! which adds the pleasure of a trip on the Nile to the excellent food... It's two minutes walk from the docking point. Really friendly staff - GO!!!!

“BEST IN THE WEST!!”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

Well I have been to Egypt twice and I always go to the Africa restaurant. Purely because the food, service, staff and atmosphere is spectacular. The food is simple amazing, in each meal you can taste a variety of amazing flavors. The service is exceptional not to long a wait between each course. The staff are really inviting they are always willing to help. The atmosphere is a relaxed and calm due to the nice staff that work there I would recommend this africa restaurant to anybody.

“Nice for a change”
Reviewed 3 April 2014

We just fancied a change of scenery from the east bank with a lunch over to the West bank of Nile to this place - and glad we did.
We had Kofta, rice, and a tomato and onion sauce and deep fried aubergines - magic and you can get a Stella here too.
