Owner description: The Karnak Sound and Light Show highlights the dramatic history of ancient Thebes. The show narrates the achievements of some great Pharaohs, with poetic descriptions of the ancient treasures. As visitors walk through the complex, the pharaohs arise to tell the story of their interesting lives, as haunting music mysteriously flows through this ancient city. Ancient and poetic voices tell the visitors about the birth of Karnak temple and the heroic achievements of the pharaohs and the god Amun. It is an enchanting and supernatural experience to listen to sound effects and gaze at the magnificent ruins illuminated during the well-presented show.

Since I'm still a child at heart and I believe in magic, to me this show was interesting and amusing and as well opportunity to revise some history lections. This was my second visit to Luxor and since first time I didn't have time to go and see the show, this time it was on my list. I liked that it's not only lecture-type show where you sit and watch but the first half of the show you walk through the temple while around you different figures are projected on the walls and you hear sounds interpreting events that narrator is mentioning. My favorite was hearing the sound of people chatting and cutting stones, while passing by the wall with hieroglyphs. However, ticket price could be lower or, what I would like even more, the show could be longer (now is little less than one hour).

This son et lumiere is a mixture of education and entertainment. Well worth the 20 minute wait for the doors to open and let us in (late).
It employed the latest laser and projection technology, mixed in with the original buildings and artefacts, and viewed from the natural terrace at the end of the sacred pool.

One tip. Bring a torch, as although the whole site is well-lit, there are some areas that are in shadow when crowded, and the ground can be uneven. Not suitable for disabled and wheelchair users without assistance.

I spent 100 egyptian pounds to see such a trash show. The show is awful, and really Boring.
But if you don't have anything better to do, well, do it but don't Expect anything better than having the chance to see the amazing location of karnak at night.
Prices are 100 egypt pounds per person.

We saw this show in mid December. Firstly, there were only 4-5 other tourists with us who came for the show. Our guide charged us $40 USD per person, which seemed a lot. I am sure he got a commission, however, I wouldnt have minded the price if the show was good, but No. Karnak temple is beautiful and you will have to come here again during the day, to really see the beauty of 134 columns, the Ramses statues and the Obelisks. The sound and light show does not have enough light to really see the temple in its full grandeur. Showtimes start at 7pm, 9pm and special language shows need to be reserved in advance.

The show is a walking show with narration and voice over for each of the kings who were involved with the making of the temple. A guy walks with you opening the entry to the areas where you are supposed to go. In the end there is a viewing area over-seeing the lake where the show continues for 15-20 mins more. They light up different areas of the temple and there is switching back and forth between voice over and narration. It was hard to understand what was going on. They dont have a wall that could act as a good screen. Its more dramatic than it needs to be and there is a lot of swtiching back and forth between dramatic voice over and narration so you cannot keep track of what is going on. More sound than light. Light is too less to even take pictures. No lasers as well.
Skip this one if you can, especially if the guides upsell you to see this - they would do this for their commission.
