Have stayed at some of the bigger hotels on the East Bank, but decided to try this Little budget hotel, just a small walk from the ferry on the West Bank.
The room I had had a lovely view overlooking the Nile with a good sized balcony. Have to say the air conditioning was superb and kept me nice and cool. The wifi on the East Bank is so incredibly slow, but it was perfect at El Mesala. Wifi available on the roof top terrace, which has an enviable view.
My room was cleaned daily and I was treated to the most wonderful array of towel art from the cleaner. He told me he used to work in a large five star hotel in Hurghada, but due to the lack of tourism he has been lucky enough to secure a position at El Mesala, and how lucky are they!
The room was comfortable and breakfast served on the roof top terrace. It included fresh fruit, cheese, tomatoes, yoghurt, bread rolls, jam, butter, and a freshly cooked omelette. As much tea and coffee as you could drink.
I ate on the roof top terrace one evening having shish tawook one of my favourite dishes, and it was delicious. The food is freshly cooked, so do expect a bit of a wait while they prepare it. Sitting on that terrace with a drink and that view, is no problem at all.
If you have any requests or issues, they will gladly do their best to accommodate and help you.
I was a solo female traveller and always felt safe and secure and received no hassle at the hotel whatsoever.
The pool was small but refreshing for a swim after a morning in the sun, and is nicely screened from the road, so you are very private.
This is a budget hotel, with everything you need, and is excellent value for money. So different from staying on the East Bank, quieter, less hassle, and I found they didn't try and rip you off in the local shops when buying supplies. It was lovely to walk round the backstreets and see the fields, crops, and Nobi Riding stables with their horses.
I will be back again.
