Personal service is the hallmark of the Cleopatra Hotel in Luxor, which is new for 2011. We were picked up at the airport by Regae who was instantly cheery and welcoming, and turned out to be the hotel's resident Egyptologist. Within an hour of arriving we had enjoyed our welcome drink on the rooftop terrace, with spectacular views of the illuminated Thebes mountain, tucked into a wonderful home-cooked dinner that was russled up in minutes by genial host Nasser, and organised our sightseeing tours for the week, guided by Regae. Nothing was too much trouble for Nasser, Regae and the ever-helpful Ahmed, who between them made sure all our needs were met while being careful to protect us from "tourist prices". Rooms were spacious and comfortable.

Oh my... What an uforgettable experience! My friend and I were vacationing in Egypt and Luxor was our final desitination in this fabulous country... The hotel is located on the West bank of the Nile River.. described by most.. "Where most of the locals live" it was simply amazing! You feel like an egyptian both at the hotel and the west bank in general.. to cross to the east bank you have to take the ferry for only 1LE (Egyptian pound) super cheap, fun and safe!!! People: Yiu should be staying in the west bank since most of the attractions are on this side of the river! Except Karnak and Luxor temples.. they are on the east side...going back to the hotel... The place is very nice.. no elevators and it has 4 floors plus the the terrace... Simply a gorgeous view at night, morning and during the day.. you can really nature changing colors... the view you get is if Mt. Thebes.. where the Valley of the Kings, Queens, Workers and Nobles are! The owner of the place Nazzer was such as great host.. he will treat you as family.. he is always in the hotels.. looking after his guest... the breakfast is is served by Him and it consisted of fried egg, natural yogurt, fruit, cheese, honey, jam, tea or coffee and bread! More than enough to start of your day! After so much sightseeing it was nice to know a delicious Egyptian dinner awaits you at the hotel.. please take advantange of this.. it is very inexpensive and delicious homemade Egyptian food.. Just talk to Nazzer... I felt at home at this place .. so tranquil, and nice! Great service an HASSLE free!!

If you are in Luxor.. do yourself favor and stay at this place... they will give you the same things you would get at 5* hotel at a fraction of the cost! Plus you get to experience the culture of the place!

Luigi!

Within half an hour of arriving at the Cleopatra we were on the roof terrace taking in the magical view of the illuminated mountain of Thebes, and tucking into a delicious dinner prepared by Nasser, the owner of the hotel. We knew immediately we'd made the right choice. Nasser is the most attentive of hosts and will go out of his way to help his guests - including bringing his tailor round to measure W up for a jalabya which was delivered by teatime the same day! To get the most from your visits to the breathtaking tombs and temples you need a guide and you won't find better than Reggae whose knowledge of Egyptology is second to none. The Cleopatra's tranquil location on the West Bank assures a peaceful night's sleep - apart from the odd braying donkey. Bedrooms, with ensuite bathrooms, have fab comfortable beds. Everywhere spotlessly clean. Good breakfast with a choice of continental or trad Egyptian. We'll be back, insha'Allah.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor - good views from the balconies and handy for hanging out on the roof terrace.

The Cleopatra Hotel on the west bank of Luxor is the best place to stay if you are looking for value for your money, good location and cleanliness. The hotel itself is beautiful, spacious and the rooms are spotlessly clean, with wireless internet and they come with a good breakfast. Every room has its own balcony and bathroom, plus air conditioning. The staff is extremely helpful, they will find you the best price for any tour you would like to take, they will also cook you meals at very low prices. It is also ideally located in a very quiet area of town but only five minutes from the Nile. But the gem of the place is the rooftop terrace with its absolutely awesome views of the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens where you relax after your day of sightseeing.

We had a transit in luxor for one night and a friend recommended this hotel to me. I called them a few hours before I arrived at the airport, luckily they had space and also offered to arrange a collection at the airport and a tour starting immediately so I could see as much as I could as only had one day to look around.

The tour was lovely, the guide was very knowledgeable and the car was very very clean (not always the case in Egypt as I have experienced before!)

After a long day of touring we arrived at the hotel - I've stayed in a lot of hotels around the country and I wasn't expecting much as it was very cheap, but thought it didn't matter as it was only for one night. However I was really really surprised as it was very clean - not just the floors and linen EVERYTHING was clean, behind the toilet, EVERYTHING!! The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning worked brilliantly.

The manager of the hotel offered to organize dinner for us as we were far too tired to go traipsing around restaurants, we had a traditional Egyptian meal of chicken stuffed with rice, tahina, salad and some kind of potato stew. We ate on the top floor which has a beautiful roof terrace that overlooks mountains and palm trees (and if you look between the buildings you can see the Nile!) It was really delicious and saved us a night walking around luxor looking for a restaurant. He also organized a short boat trip along the Nile which was lovely and relaxing after a day in 40 degree searing heat!

All in all I would say that for the price it was such good value, it's not 5 star but it's a lovely comfortable hotel with a very relaxed feel, clean and the staff are so helpful, I would recommend this place to anyone.

Room Tip: we were on the top floor, I didn't see the other rooms but ours were lovely!

We were recommended this hotel by our new friends at Australian Backpackers in Cairo. After travelling in developing countries for months, we were incredibly grateful for the door-to-door service Cleopatra provided after our 16 hour bus ride from Dahab (our first "no hassles" arrival in literally MONTHS!!... Thank you guys!). Then we ended up hanging out in Luxor for 5 days instead of heading down to Aswan... what a great idea! Cleopatra is a fantastic base to see the sights of Luxor... a short trip to the Valley of Kings and Queens (we hired a motorbike to explore this area, which was perfect... it's very easy riding around this area) and only a short stroll and ferry ride to the amazing Karnak temple (not to be missed!!!). The service we received throughout our entire stay was so warm and friendly, we left feeling like we were part of the extended family. We have the fondest memories of delicious home-cooked meals (best in Egypt!), local remedies for food poisoning (I ate 'bad chicken in Dahab' :-(), family hospitality and great advice and local deals. The hotel itself is new, with gorgeous high ceilings, the use of a kitchen if you like and a wonderful rooftop dining and resting area (with a veiw!). We would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Luxor.
