I would definitely recommend this hotel. Nasser and his staff were extremely welcoming and treated us like friends/family throughout our stay (4 nights). After being in Cairo, it was great to be in a quiet and relaxing location. The price and terrace view makes this hotel worth staying in alone. And although we preferred the quieter West Bank (especially the people), the ferry to the East Bank is very close and convenient. Thank you Cleopatra staff for being part of an amazing and wonderful trip!

PS: The only downside was the shower that was a bit difficult to get in and out of. We were fine but it could be tougher for an older person.

I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel; it is simple, quiet, extremely clean, well located (just a few minutes walk from the Nile and the ferry to the East Bank), and owned by the excellent Mr.Nasr who takes infinite trouble to ensure the comfort of his guests. Everyone there was extremely helpful and nothing too much trouble. I'm pretty picky when it comes to hotels and would definitely pick the Cleopatra for my next vacation in Egypt.

We were warmly welcomed by hotel staff telling us we had just been ripped off by taxi from airport and guide we had arranged for the day to take us round the West Bank sites which made us feel bit stupid but enabled us to barter with the guide. However that evening we arranged a price for a guide for second day the second day only to then Be told in the morning that we'd be better getting ferry- not sure if they were trying to help or had priced themselves too low. After sightseeing we had a lovely lunch on the roof terrace of the hotel which has stunning views over the valley of the kings mountains. The food was all freshly prepared and very tasty however agree a price before you eat as the food is more expensive than a room for the night. Great location for getting the ferry across to east bank which I highly recommend as its only about 50p to get across as opposed to an expensive taxi. The rooms were adequate although the T.V did not work and the shower was more like a drip and was never hot, Luke warm at very best. All in all, you pay for what you get, it's very cheap and great for a short stay

Room Tip: Always agree prices up front in Egypt as they like the saying "if your happy I'm happy"...

Nasser is a true host that knows how to make his guests feel welcome. The hotel isn't the ritz but what it lacks in glitz and glam it makes up for with personality and warmth. Further, Nasser would do his utmost best to arrange anything for you and the food from the hotel is ace! I stayed in June when it was low season for tourism so the hotel was quite empty but that did not make the trip any less interesting! The hotel is surrounded by the villages on the West Bank which sets for an environment for those looking to chill out and getaway from the City.

Will definitely return to Cleopatra if I ever visit Luxor again!

Great basic hotel, 5 mins walk from ferry port on West Bank of Nile.
So very easy access for wandering day and night.

Great views of mountains day and night from roof top terrace.

Great base to make tours of Luxor bits, AC and good food to recover.

Great place all year round, we visited during Ramadan. No problems for activities or food.

Hotel can organise anything you need. Daily tour, food, advise on directions.

Good basic, clean helpful place, located down dusty track.

This is our fourth attempt to write this review!! For some reason - we don't know why- but tripadvisor keeps losing them. But we are determined!!That shows how eager we are to share with you the amazing stay that we had at the Cleopatra Hotel, Luxor. From the moment we were met at the airport, we knew that we would be treated like family. The driver who was sent to come and pick us up greeted us with a beautiful smile and went out of his way to help us exchange some money as we had no Egyptian pounds with us. He took us to a man who gave us a great deal and didn't rip us off.We then arrived at the hotel and were shown to a magnificent room overlooking the fields. It was clean, spacious and private, with beautiful hot water and a wonderful view from the balconey (in the picture below). Nasser provided us with the most delicious and authentic dinner on the romantic rooftop. We sat on the rug and shared it with Ragab who was our incredible guide during our stay. Each day Ragab would take us to another Egyptian treasure, educating us with his extensive historical knowledge and perfect English. His warm, friendly and easy going nature made our stay unforgettable and we now feel he is a close friend and part of our family. You can contact him by email to arrange tours even before you get there! Reggi_el@yahoo.com . Breakfasts were always a treat on the beautiful rooftop with the magnificent view of the mountains and green fields- a green which was irridescent- the most beautiful and unusual green we had ever seen. You can order both breakfast and dinner -which we did every day - and each meal was a culinary delight! After a long hot day touring, the hotel was like coming home to family- so relaxed and welcoming. Oranges were always available- and their taste took us back to oranges we had as a child- sweet and delicious! The service was impeccable. Mahmoud was always there with a smile to get you a cup of tea, or anything else that you wished for, at any time of the day. We cannot recommend this place highly enough. Every minute was wonderful. We cherish the memories and are planning to return asap!!
Our thanks and appreciation to all those who reviewed the hotel. It was their positive comments that influenced us to book here and we're so gald we did! Let's hope our review gets printed this time and influences others to make such a safe and wonderful choice.
