Once again I had the best time here, wonderful staff who i consider my friends as I have known many of them for nearly 30 years. This time I had a lovely garden room which was so quiet. I will certainly be going back. Special thanks to Hagag who kept my room so clean and tidy

I was incredibly disappointed in this hotel. Our room had no towels, the toilet seat was dirty, the shower had no water pressure & little hot water, the elevators were unreliable, it was noisy & the staff were among the unfriendliest we met on our whole trip. Would never go back to this one.

We arrived this year with some concern as to what we would find following the 'arab spring' earlier this year.

Nowever, the staff gave their familiar very friendly welcome - we were made to feel so welcome that it was like returning to a second home.

Despite the fact that the tourist trade has reduced - due to the severe drop off in numbers of tourists since the 'arab spring' - the number of hotel guest was down by about 80% - the staff maintained their friendly attitude and did not show their concerns about the future.

The service was the usual high standard. However, - the restaurant facilities were fairly restricted with only the 'el daka' (italian poolside restaurant) and 'le champolion' restaurants open. There was also the tamam bar service available, but the 'le gournet' and 'la flamboyance' french restaurants were closed.

Despite this and the consequential reduction in choice of menu, the food quality was it's usual high standard.

Our room was in the north wing of the hotel and while it was not one of the 'newly modernised rooms' it had been refurbished and was clean and tidy. The room was cleaned daily to a high standard.

Since our last visit BBC world news has been added to the tv service. This was a welcome additon as previously the only english language channel was CNN.

Although the 'hustlers' on the streets seem more numerous and pushy than on previous visits, this is partly because there are fewer tourists and therefore the ratio between 'hustlers' and tourists has increased. In addition the reduction in tourists has resulted in lower income to the city as a whole so the population are poorer as a result and therefore it is understandable that they try harder to sell their wares.

Notwithstanding this, a firm 'no thank you' usually solved the problem. The city is still a safe place to visit. This is evident by the high number of single women of all ages travelling alone who return to the hotel year after year.

All in all we had a very enjoyable holiday and hope that the tourists return to this fascinating resort soon.

This hotel occupies a position with excellent views over the nile to the west bank (which is now floodlit in the evenings) and the temple of Queen Hatshepsut. The hotel is also within easy walking distance of Luxor temple and Luxor Museum. With its' location outside the centre of the city, but still within walking distance fom the centre, it makes for a quiet retreat for those wishing just to relax.

The pool which was remodelled a couple of years ago (reducing the deep end and providing steps into the pool at the shallow end) is now suitable for people of all ages and swimming ability.

We shall return and hope that other tourist return soon to this fascinating and historical resort.

Our agent booked this hotel as part of a roundtrip. We had a great stay!
After entering the large lobby/reception area you can go from there to the restaurants, bars, poolarea, upstairs, other roombuildings, shops.
Our room was very clean; frontside poolarea, backside gardenview (with private balkony on ground floor). Great, clean bathroom, fridge, tv, all clean and working well.
Very close to Nile. Friendly staff.
Recommend it!

I have been staying here since 2001 and have never looked back, it is just like coming home when I arrive through the front door! Everyone was in the reception area to welcome me back from Aly to the bell captains, to the waiters. El Luxor is undergoing renovations at the moment but don't let it put you off, you hardly know the workmen are there. I had a lovely room with a Nile view, towels and bedding changed daily and with surprises left on my bed made out of towels! Aly took me on a tour of the newly refurbished rooms and apartments and they are absolutely gorgeous. The Hotel was very quiet due to the Revolution at the beginning of they year, but that didn't stop me and my friends having a great time, there are 5 of us from around the UK who meet up there every year. Went out to other hotels to see how busy they were and they were just as quiet too, more so in some of the bigger ones.
If you want a hotel that is centrally based with excellent views, great service, lovely pool and sunbathing area, then look no further, El Luxor is for you!
