We visited the Eatabe (El Luxor, Mecure, Etap) again this year 11thJanuary to the 25th.
It is very difficult to say anything new as all the wonderful things have already been said over many years and they are all true.
We arrived around 11pm and were met by Aly Mohamed the Guest Relations Manager and the extremely friendly and efficient staff. Hibiscus tea was served as a traditional welcome and we were greeted by many old friends who remembered us from previous visits. Our luggage arrived promptly to our room and we settled for the night. Breakfast in the dining room again with breathtaking views and impeccable service again from staff who remember us from previous visits. Even the Chef, Mohammed, preparing sumptuous omelettes remembered my specific choices. Pastries, cakes, fruit, cheeses, cold meats, boiled or fried eggs and omelettes are all waiting to tempt you. Coffee or tea in abundance quickly and efficiently each waiter remembering your personal likes and dislikes. Having stayed in most of the hotels in Luxor none will ever beat the El Luxor for service, views, friendliness and opportunities to see Luxor than the fabulous Eatabe.
ps the Espresso coffee served on the terrace is a must as you while away the morning in the sunshine and meet fellow holiday makers some of whom were staying for several weeks and who have always returned year after year as did we to the same hotel.

Our room 319 was the perfect place to rest with stupendous Nile Views and on a clear day a stunning view of Hatshepsut’s Mortuary Temple. The hotel is less than a stones throw from the wonderful Temple of Luxor and Luxor museum and a pleasant walk along the Corniche to the breathtaking Karnak Temple. The hustle and bustle of Luxor is a short walk through the Savoy market where you can pick up some souvenirs each trader having his own story about his wares.
The Chinese Prime Minister visited whilst we were in Luxor and the transformation was spectacular debris and detritus littering the Corniche was swept up by some very hard working men and the road at the rear of the hotel was laid with fresh tarmac. The security was very high though there was no demonstrations and no unrest. The poor Caleche drivers were dismissed from the main roads for the evening and day of his visit to the outskirts of town as were most of the taxis. I hope the visit was a success and that some commerce and industry for the people will come soon.
Luxor is a friendly peaceful place a must to visit either to lounge by the pool or wander the magnificent ancient sites. Meet the friendly people and enjoy some delicious food.
