We were originally booked into the Lotus, but they had a problem with hot water (winter… too cold) so the hotel travel agent in Aswan changed our booking to the Sofitel instead.
It was very quiet. So quiet that we had breakfast on our own for three days.
The hotel is north of the city and though not too far away, enough to not be able to just wonder out and sample the sights on foot.
The rooms are fine and decorated in a fine '80s fashion.
The food in the restaurant is fine, though a little strained in the service being one of the few staying there. It seems the whole staff from the manager down want to find out how your meal is!
All the staff were super friendly and would stay here again, though the swing boards in the lobby for the tour groups of days gone by suggest a lower standard of clientele normally frequent this establishment in more affluent times. :-)More
