We were a bit nervous about going to Egypt but could not have felt safer, both at the hotel and at the Temples and in the Valley of the Kings.

It is such a shame people are scared of going there at the moment - the Egyptians are lovely people and kept thanking us for visiting their country.

The Karnak Resort was great, although very quiet, and the staff worked incredibly hard to make sure our stay was good. Food is ok, freshly prepared lunches were the best, especially the Greek Salad.

The tailor at the hotel was very tolerant, highly skilled, and extremely good value. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: No rooms have a Nile view which is a shame

It has a nice garden and pool, you still can see that it was a Sofitel 5* hotel once... but unfortunately it is in need of renovations... However, price/quality is fine... It's located a few km outside luxor, so you need a Taxi to go out. My advice is to use Alah Crocodile, or his brother Tarek Crocodile, from all the taxi chauffeurs I trust them most, and they not give you any hassle and have fair prices.

Just returned from our holiday from Luxor.Stayed in Karnak Resort Luxor, previously part of Sofitel Group. We arrived at 9.30 in the morning.Received a very warm welcome from the receptionist and a cup of tea while our rooms were getting ready.Very surprise to see that the hotel was nearly empty. While our room was being prepared,we took the opportunity to look around. The hotel has a large swimming pool,,gym, jacuzzi and sauna, kids play room, open air
theatre,as well as free squash and tennis courts.
We stayed for six nights on half board basis.Breakfast was served from 5.30 in the morning
and we can honestly say that we had nothing to complain about.Waiters were all eager to make
us feel comfortable.Evening meals were great though at a time choice of food could have been better. This was compensated by the hotel serving us whatever we liked from the menu.
My wife is not very keen in fish from the sea.Next day we were told that the hotel manager
has ordered special fish from the Nile. Just for us.
We are so happy with service we received from all the staff that we have recommended our friends to go to Karnak Resort if visiting Luxor.
Our big thanks to every body who made our stay so warm and welcoming that we find it hard to
find any fault.
I even had two three piece suit stitched from the Tailor shop within the hotel.Cost £70.00 for each suit.A bargain.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a Nile or Pool view.

We stayed here for 5 days after a Nile cruise and were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel has a lovely old fashioned colonial feel to it and whilst not new is very well maintained. The free facilities include a large pool , separate kids facilities, gym, Jacuzzi and sauna as well as free squash and tennis courts. The staff our very helpful, immaculately turned out, very polite and particularly cheerful. Our room was very comfortable, cool and airy with an Egyptian theme appropriate to historic Luxor. The hotel has atmosphere and you cannot help but feel privileged and relaxed to be away from the very busy daily world of real Egyptian life. If we were worried about security then just like the rest of Egypt we had nothing to worry about as looking after tourists is a way of life and this hotel was a very good example of this. The food was very good with plenty of choice and very attentive staff and in particular the local wine was of a much higher standard. Well, what more can I say - We loved it here! The views over the Nile and walks through the hotel grounds were so relaxing. Finally I should mention Ahmed and the hotel Felucca sail from the hotel to where ever you want should not be missed - he is an excellent host and guide and will help make your holiday in Egypt complete.

We had an amazing time here, granted some of the facilities were closed due to lack of guests, but to be honest, I was amazed how well staffed, and run the Hotel was, considering there could have been no more than twenty guests, at any one time during our stay, and far fewer on some days, and of the few facilities that were closed, we certainly didn't miss them.
The rooms are small but perfectly formed, the grounds are just beautiful and well maintained as are all the reception areas. Eat at the Sundowner and watch the sun set over the majestic Nile, I really couldn't imagine a more beautiful setting.
The staff were wonderful, beyond helpful and so friendly. The buffet breakfast was delicious and consisted of fresh fruit, bread, cheese, yogurt, cold meat, cereal, the most delicious omelette or crepe cooked on request and as much fruit juice, tea and coffee as you can drink, all cooked and served by the nicest of people.
The pool staff were cheerful and often entertained my daughter, as on many afternoons, she was the only one in the pool. The reception staff, Laurice and Mahmoud, again nothing was too much trouble, from arranging taxis to organizing a take away breakfast and calling the house Doctor when a mosquito bite became infected, and always with a smile. On returning to our room there was always a towel sculpture to greet us made by EBied who like the rest of the room staff was lovely. The laundry service was exceptional (I wish I could iron that well) and very good value.
I really am struggling to fault this Hotel other than to say there really aren't enough electrical sockets in the rooms, we found one, so do take an adapter with at least two sockets or you'll struggle. That said we had a wonderful time here primarily because of the staff, thank you all for making our stay in Luxor such a wonderful experience, we really can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Pick a ground floor garden room as these have nice terraced areas that lead into the gardens. The second floor balcony's looked tiny.
