Jolie Ville Hotel & Spa - Kings Island, Luxor

We have visited this hotel many times but mainly for the peacefull gardens and friendly service.
Sure the rooms are 3 star and has been said for many years 'tired' - but one day they'll tart them up and up will go the price.
Talking of price - the cost of drinks have gone up alot and the days of Egypt being cheap are now gone. The majority of hotels are now charging 160E£ for local house wine (£20).
We love the place but I'm drinking less in the hotel and more out!

this hotel is amazing!!! situated on a private island away from the hustle and bustle of the city we couldnt have asked for anything more. We only paid 360pounds for 1 weeks visit but it was worth alot more. The rooms were spacious with very good air conditioning which was very important in the 40+ heat. The tv had many english channels and there were complimentary robes and slippers waiting in the bathroom on arrival. There were 2 pools one for adults only and the other an infinity pool that looks out onto the nile, so beautiful romantic and relaxing. Also the waiters serve you drinks and snacks at the pool side so you dont even have to leave your sun bed which are always available unlike many other package holiday type hotels. The breakfast was plentiful with everything from traditional english, continential meats to egyptian specialities. There are numerous options for both lunch and dinner, a bbq is held every night as well as a indoors buffet. There is also a normal menu for lunch and also for dinner were you can get steak for 3pounds and its delicious! The island also has a small zoo which is free to residents were you can ride the camel, have the monkeys climb on you and see the famous crocodile which is always fun. The island also has a massage parlour alongside other health and beauty treatments. In Luxor, a trip to the valley of the kings is a must to see where king tut was buried and also a hot balloon ride which can be organised through the hotel. Overall, this hotel was well worth the 5 star rating it has received. The food, ammenities and staff were fantastic and we would definitely stay again and recommend it to all.

We stayed at the Jolie Ville for 1 week honeymoon, mid September 08.
A young hearted couple in late 30's, this was to be a totally different holiday for us - normally booking good hotels in the Med and not straying far from the pool!
The weather was fantastic, almost too hot for me and i love the sun! In the afternoons i mainly lazed under umberellas or swam in the pool, due to the intense heat. I wore some kind of head protection all the time, which i've never done before - you could easily get sunstroke. No rush for beds, which is a huge plus point for me.
Tip the waiters a little, at the beginning of the holiday, middle and end and you will get attentive service by the pool- they bring everything to you, but be prepared for wait, so order before you are desperate for drink. Watching huge cruise ships passing a few feet from you, at the infinity pool by nile, is an amazing experience - especially when 3 come at once, blowing horns, guests waving! Fantastic!!
We had done a lot of research before we had booked, because we wanted to really enjoy our honeymoon and not feel dissapointed with anything - and so as other trip advisors have mentioned, the bathrooms were very outdated and of dubious decor. However as we already expected this and we dont spend a lot of time in one, we kept a good sense of humour about the orange, dingy tiles and 70,s experience!! Rooms big - probably 3* plus, but perfectly fine and clean.
The grounds and pools make up for this and are beautiful, 5* well maintained, with huge trees lining the nile and i felt truly peaceful walking around. Staff all generally really friendly.
The infinity pool by the nile is gorgeous, no feeling of being hemmed in, which i hate. The adult only pool we never used, but looked nice , if a little quieter and too structured in design for me.
We took our own wine to drink on a couple of special nights, which i was glad of. Egyptian wine is very expensive and frankly horrible! Even with corkage costs - 60 egyptian pounds - our wine worked out to be better value. It did say in welcome pack you could do this, but waiters still a little confused when we asked - however they were lovely and put in ice bucket until we were ready to drink it.
Food fine - a little salty sometimes, but i could always find something i liked - special mention to the head chef who took a shine to us and kept making little meals and bringing them over for us to try! We didny use the barbecue outside, i didnt think choice looked as good and also we were cautious, this holiday being our first time in central egypt. We used Le Fleur one night for a change, which was very nice.
Neither of us were unwell generally, but both of us, especially my partner, suffered from 'mummy tummy', at various times during hol - i think it's the whole change of food, weather, water, environment, rather than food in hotel. We didnt venture out of grounds in the evening to eat, as were happy to chill out on the ultra relaxing verandas by the nile, listening to the haunting singing across the river, after a busy and early start sightseeing day. There is also a pub bar inside with a couple of singers every night - but we didnt use this so can't comment. Evenings relaxed and atmopheric, by the Nile. Mixed natonalities, which I like.Sunset came early when we were there, about 6 -started going down from 4.30. Watching the sun go down , whilst swimming in a infinity pool by the Nile was a lovely and memorable experience!
Mozzies were a pain - we both got bit, eperimiter well guarded. We didnt venture into luxor town on own - felt like babes in wood -think we will be more adventurous next tme! -The sunset balloon flight was excellent. On advice from this site we used Jollies. Just jump in a taxi and ask for the winter palace -its in a row of shops by there. Cost us 35 pounds eac, no hassle haggling, set price - they were efficient and i felt safe. Check out some of my photos - amazing skies.
Fellah tent night booked at hotel - worth the money and you get to keep your outfit!
We also did a west bank tour - for this we did use our tour op guide . Not neccessarily cheapest option, but worth it - we linked up with another couple and got an air conditioned mini bus and private guide. She was great and recounted lots of stories at each venue before allowing us to explore in private.
Warning!!! - do not go over weight limit on return....Travellers were being pulled left right and centre and from what i could see were paying random amounts as dictated by airport staff. Our guy at desk looked dissapointed when we were within limit and then even took our hand luggage to weigh altogehter to see if he could get us that way. Also watch how much you pay for your visa - don't want to sound rude but it did seem corrupt to me - even men issuing in booths trying to charge double. Carry your own suitcases, as everyone expects a tip, even if you didn't want help. Go on net and download guides for luxor like we did, if your first time. Give loads of information about airport routines and money/tipping etc, which we found it very useful and which you really do need.
Overall a lovely hotel and holiday. I would definately go back - didn't see all Luxor has to offer - but with more company next time as evening entertainment low key, which we didnt mind at all this time, due to being on honeymoon.
Well done jolie ville.! We had a lovely honeymoon!.

We were on tour of Egypt and stayed here for 1 night before boarding our ship for Nile cruise.
The best way I could describe this hotel was "very tired" and the service was very poor. We got in late and left early so I can't much about the gounds but there was no drinking water in the room and when I requested water had to call twice before they brought 1 bottle for 2 people. The food was very good and the hotel was well located but I would not stay here again if I had a choice.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in March.

We did have an early check in (we were there at 11:00), and we were told we had to wait for a room and that the reception would inform us when it was ready, but to expect it to be around 30 mins. We waitied an hour before approaching them but it seemed they had forgotten about us.

The rooms are a 3 star standard, but they are nice and clean. The bathroom in our room was white (no 70's brown), but the floor is extremely slippery when wet, and it was on a slant, so I fell. Make sure you but down the bath mat!

The grounds however are a 5 star standard. The pools are wonderful, as are the gardens around it. It's the perfect place to relax and unwind.

The food is a 3 star standard. It's okay, but nothing really to write home about., and it's quite expensive for what it is. However, the breakfast I think was quite good, about a 4 star standard. Also, we wanted to do the buffet dinner on our last night, but the place was full. We had decided to try the French restaurant instead, and we and another couple were told it was full, even though the restuarant was over half empty!

Also, if you want to use the internet there and you have a laptop with wifi, it's free in the reception. However, if you pay to use their computer, it's overpriced and very slow, IMO it should be free to customers, or at least the price greatly reduced.

The hotel being on an island has it's drawbacks. It's nice to have the serenity and quiteness of being away from the city, but it also means your isolated from it, so they take advantage of overcharging for the food and drinks. Yes, taxi's are quite cheap, but when you factor in the cost of journey to and from, it's about the same cost as staying in the hotel. If I were going back, I would stay here again, but I would recommend the following:

1- ask the taxi driver to stop at a local shop before going into your hotel to stock up on water and juices
2 - if you want to eat in the restuarnts at the hotel, make reservations plenty in advance
3 - if you want to eat outside of the hotel, make sure you review the restaurants here on trip advisor and note their numbers and addresses before you go, as to try to research them on the internet in the hotel is painfully slow and pricey!

We have just returned from a week in Jolie Ville Hotel and had a wonderfull time.

The accomodation is all at ground level and seemed to mostly cater for the older generation. It is a island in the nile located a 10 minute drive from Luxor. The location is excellent as you can walk around the grounds without the hassle of being in luxor but are close enough that it only costs around £3 for a taxi into Luxor.

The rooms are clean and cleaned daily. I would say however that I would not class it as being a 5 star which seems to be the rating. The bathrooms are looking dated now. I have stayed at Sonesta previous in the centre of Luxor which beats it for luxory in the rooms but the benefit of the location of Jolie completely outweighs this fact.

All of the staff in the resort were extremely friendly and always keen to assist you. They are looking for a tip obviously but not to the point of being rude which you get everywhere else in Luxor.

Take Mosquito repellent as we got bitten numerous times. I do not normally have any problems with the bites but for some reason in Luxor they were sore and itchy for at least a few days.

Go yourself to Luxor temple by night by taxi as it will be cheaper than an organised trip.
