“Fabulous hotel in Luxor”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2012

This hotel has everything. It is situated on the banks of the River Nile and it's accommodation is excellent. The food at the buffet for every meal is sumptuous and caters for a multitude of tastes. Every room has a view of the river and each room is spacious and exquisitely presented. Staff are courteous and friendly.

I highly recommend this hotel.

Have just returned from another stay at the Sonesta and had a fantastic time. Everything, in our opinion, is five star and very difficult to fault. The staff were all very welcoming and made our stay memorable.
At the moment things are very difficult in Egypt with the number of tourists down but after the election I am sure that everything will bounce back to its old self. When this happens I am sure that the Sonesta will again be full of tourists wishing to sample the best that Luxor can offer.
Our advise is that if you want to treat yourself stay at The Sonesta and you will not be disappointed.

Splendid experience - highly recommended.

The hotel is immaculate, and the food generally of a high quality.

The service is good - although more customer service training would help as the staff lack the magic touch (like most hotels)

We only stayed for one night at Sonesta St George on our 2 day trip to Luxor from Hurghada. it came very highly recommended from a friend and felt we had to try it. We were not disappointed, from first walking through the doors you are met by luxury and elegance. The large airy reception area is excellent and the friendly and efficient receptionist quickly checked us in and gave us directions to our room on the 4th floor.
When we opened the door and went into the room it was sheer heaven, thick rich carpet and almost every facility you could want.
The view over the Nile was breathtaking, then beyond the hills of the West Bank where we were going to explore the following day. The view to the other side was less impressive however, basically a building site, piles of rubble and sand and part built structures.
The one disappointment for us was the lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room, although there was a well stocked mini bar. There was a card promoting a special on hiring tea and coffee in the room but this was $US35 per week and no daily rate was available.
On returning to our room after dinner we were treated to the sight of the West Bank hills illuminated, something that amazing.
After a comfortable nights sleep we both enjoyed an al fresco breakfast overlooking the large pool and the River Nile. Breakfast was very nice with an extensive range of foods to satisfy the most discerning palate. The staff were attentive without being obtrusive.
Overall we both enjoyed our stay and would return if we go back to Luxor again.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor with a Nile view

Once again we have just returned from another great stay at the SONESTA ST GEORGE it get's better on every visit and we are now in the process of booking trip number 10 for later on in the year.We would like to thank all member's of staff for their undivided attention shown to us on our holiday.A special thank you to Mr HISHAM and his member's of staff Our room attendant Joesph was exceptional,We stayed on the 5th floor and the view's were amazing.
We have stayed in many hotel's throughout the U.K.and would have to pay £200 per night to have the same standard accommadation as in the Sonesta. The room's are a very high standard. There is alway's plenty of choice at breakfast and you can alway's ask if you require something special. At this present time people are very put off going to Egypt but I can assure anyone thinking of booking a holiday there are NO problem's in LUXOR and you can be certain of a great welcome from ALL member's of staff,Yes you do get hassle from the Galleche /Taxi driver's but like everyone else they are trying to earn a living at this quiet time.
We wish the people of Luxor good luck for the coming month's and may the SONESTA prosper in the future. See you all soon.

Room Tip: Even number;s sun all day and lovely sunset's odd number's view's all down the Nile Sn...

Just arrived home from a week in the Sonesta and was extremely happy with our stay. After reading several reports we were a little bit hessitant on booking as we usually travel to Dubia at this time of the year but I have always wanted to see the temples etc so booked the Sonesta. This Hotel is as good as you will get in Luxor , maybe not UK 5 star but definately 4 star +. Rooms were great and the hotel was spotless (my wife has OCD as far as cleansiness goes and even she could not complain). The staff could not do enough for you , always polite , smiling..it made for a great stay. We upgraded to a room at the front and again were not dissapointed.I would recommend anyone who wants to vist Luxor stay HERE. Food was also good and ther is also a grat resturant across the road caled the lantern ....great British and Egyptian food. On the down side..there is only one and that is not the hotel's fault is the hassle you get outside from the Taxi , carriage and shop owners. This could intimidate some people but you will get that where ever you stop.
TheTemples and Valley of the Kings were spectacular but expect also to see a lot of real poverty in the area. Thanks Sonesta and all the staff for a great stay.

Room Tip: If you can afford extra £30 per night upgrade to a front room , views are great and you also get Tea...

Recently my husband and I had an overnight stay in the Sonesta St. George Hotel Luxor.
After driving for hours from Safaga to Luxor past shabby villages and queued petrol stations we wondered what the hotel would be like. It's opulence surprised us, the room was sheer luxury, the bathrooms full of electronic gadgets. The food was excellent too, and the service very professional. Thumbs up.

Room Tip: Was arranged for us by the cruise ship we traveled on (Holland America).
